Abstract
Family dynamics, particularly conflicts between parents, can have long-term effects on a child's psychological well-being, even into adulthood. One of the most complex forms of conflict is infidelity by one or both parents, which often leaves emotional wounds that are difficult for the child to forget. This study aims to examine the role of social support as a moderator in the relationship between interparental conflict and subjective well-being among individuals who have experienced parental infidelity. A total of 224 participants aged 18 to 40 years were involved in this study, selected through purposive sampling. The instruments used include the Children’s Perception of Interparental Conflict (CPIC), Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support (MSPSS), and Scale of Positive and Negative Experience (SPANE). The results showed that social support plays a moderating role in weakening the negative impact of interparental conflict on subjective well-being. These findings emphasize the importance of the social environment in supporting the well-being of individuals raised in families with dysfunctional dynamics. Keywords: interparental conflict, parental infidelity, social support, subjective well-being, moderation Dinamika keluarga, terutama konflik antara orang tua, dapat berdampak jangka panjang terhadap kesejahteraan psikologis anak, bahkan hingga usia dewasa. Salah satu bentuk konflik yang paling kompleks adalah akibat perselingkuhan pada salah satu atau kedua orang tua, yang tanpa disadari sering kali meninggalkan luka emosional yang sulit untuk dilupakan oleh anak. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memahami peran social support sebagai moderator antara interparental conflict terhadap subjective well-being pada individu yang mengalami perselingkuhan orang tua. Partisipan berjumlah 224 berusia 18–40 tahun dilibatkan dalam penelitian ini, dijaring menggunakan purposive sampling. Instrumen yang digunakan meliputi Children’s Perception of Interparental Conflict (CPIC), Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support (MSPSS), dan Scale of Positive and Negative Experience (SPANE). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa social support terbukti perannya sebagai moderator yang memperlemah pengaruh negatif interparental conflict terhadap subjective well-being dan social support terbukti memoderasi hubungan tersebut dengan memperlemah dampak negatif konflik. Temuan ini menyoroti pentingnya peran lingkungan sosial dalam mendukung kesejahteraan individu yang tumbuh dalam keluarga dengan dinamika disfungsional.
