Abstract
Derogatory sexist humor is a form of humor that reinforces negative stereotypes of women and can contribute to a culture of permissiveness towards gender inequality. This study aims to investigate the relationship between moral level - specifically on the authority/subversion and sanctity/degradation dimensions - and individual responses to sexist degrading humor. Using a quantitative correlational approach, 158 participants aged 18-25 years old who live in DKI Jakarta participated in this study. The instruments used were the MFQ-2 (Moral Foundations Questionnaire) and the sexist humor scale adapted from Prusaczyk and Hodson (2020), which assesses how funny and offensive sexist humor is. The results of the descriptive analysis showed that most participants had a high moral level and did not find sexist humor funny. Non-parametric correlation tests showed a negative relationship between moral level and response to sexist humor, meaning that the higher one's morality, the lower the acceptance of degrading sexist humor. Additional tests showed no significant differences based on gender, but significant differences were found based on recent education. This study contributes to understanding moral dynamics in the context of acceptance of discriminatory humour, and provides a starting point for educational and social interventions against the normalization of humour Humor seksis merendahkan merupakan bentuk humor yang memperkuat stereotip negatif terhadap perempuan dan dapat berkontribusi pada budaya permisif terhadap ketidaksetaraan gender.
