Abstract
Film is a powerful medium of mass communication capable of conveying messages effectively through visual and auditory elements. As a form of artistic expression, film serves not only as entertainment but also as a reflection and constructor of social reality. In the filmmaking process, the role of the camera person is crucial, as they are responsible for transforming the director's vision into compelling and meaningful visual narratives. This writing explores the role of the camera person in the short film “ABATI”, which belongs to the family drama genre. The focus is on how the camera person interprets the script and director's instructions using appropriate cinematographic techniques to enhance character development and convey the emotional depth of the story. The report of this project is to expand both practical and theoretical understanding of the camera person’s role, while contributing to the professional development of students and practitioners in cinematography. As such, this work serves as a valuable reference in advancing professional competence in film production. Keywords: ABATI, Camera person, short film, family drama, film producti. Film merupakan media komunikasi massa yang mampu menyampaikan pesan secara efektif melalui kekuatan visual dan audio. Sebagai salah satu bentuk karya seni, film tidak hanya berperan sebagai hiburan, namun juga sebagai cerminan dan pembentuk realitas sosial. Dalam proses produksi film, peran camera person menjadi sangat penting karena mereka bertanggung jawab dalam mewujudkan visi sutradara ke dalam bentuk visual yang menarik dan komunikatif. Penulisan ini membahas peran camera person dalam produksi film pendek berjudul “ABATI”, yang mengangkat tema drama keluarga. Fokus utama terletak pada bagaimana camera person menerjemahkan skenario dan arahan sutradara melalui teknik sinematografi yang tepat, guna memperkuat karakter dan menyampaikan emosi cerita. Tujuan dari laporan ini adalah untuk mengembangkan pemahaman praktis dan teoritis tentang peran camera person, serta memberikan kontribusi bagi mahasiswa dan praktisi bidang sinematografi. Dengan demikian, karya ini menjadi referensi penting dalam pengembangan kompetensi profesional di bidang produksi film. Kata Kunci: ABATI, Camera person, film pendek, drama keluarga, produksi film.
