Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh fenomena budaya populer Korea, khususnya K-Pop, yang membentuk komunitas penggemar aktif seperti EXO-L di Indonesia. Fancon EXO-SC di Jakarta menjadi momen emosional bagi para penggemar karena bertepatan dengan kembalinya Chanyeol dari wajib militer dan kepergian Sehun. Penelitian ini bertujuan memahami bagaimana EXO-L memaknai pengalaman fancon dan alasan mengunggahnya ke Instagram. Penelitian ini menggunakan teori fenomenologi Alfred Schutz yang menekankan pentingnya memahami tindakan sosial berdasarkan pengalaman subjektif. Fokusnya adalah menggali motif emosional yang melatarbelakangi tindakan mengunggah, melalui konsep motif karena (because motives) dan motif tujuan (in order to motives). Media sosial, khususnya instagram, di posisikan sebagai ruang representasi makna dan ekspresi diri penggemar. Metode penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode fenomenologi. Data dikumpulkan melalui wawancara mendalam terhadap empat informan EXO-L yang hadir di fancon dan mengunggah pengalamannya ke instagram. Data dianalisis menggunakan model Miles dan Huberman dengan triangulasi sumber data. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa tindakan mengunggah fancon merupakan bentuk ekspresi emosional, identitas fandom, dan relasi simbolik dengan idola. Instagram dipahami sebagai ruang emosional untuk berbagi makna, mempererat komunitas, dan mengabadikan pengalaman. Tindakan ini menunjukkan bahwa fandom adalah bagian dari tindakan sosial yang bermakna.This study is motivated by the growing of Korean pop culture, especially K-Pop, which has formed active fan communities like EXO-L in Indonesia. The EXO-SC fancon in Jakarta became an emotional moment for fans as it marked Chanyeol’s return from military service and Sehun’s departure. This research aims to explore how EXO-Ls interpret the fancon experience and why they choose to post it on Instagram. This study applies Alfred Schutz’s phenomenological theory, emphasizing the importance of understanding social actions through subjective experience. It focuses on emotional motives that underlie postiing behavior, explored through the concepts of because of motives and in order to motives. Instagram is seen as a space for meaning-making and self-representation in the fandom context. A qualitative approach with phenomenological methods was used. Data were obtained through in-deep interviews with four EXO-Ls who attended the fancon and shared their experience on Instagram. Data analysis employed Miles and Huberman’s model with data triangulation. The findings indicate that posting fancon content is an expression of emotion, fandom identity, and symbolic connection with the idol. Instagram is perceived as an emotional space to preserve memories, share meaning, and strengthen fan relationships. This behavior affirms that fandom engagement is a meaningful form of social action.
