Abstract
In the oil and gas industry, systematic pipe marking is essential to improve safety, minimize operational errors, and accelerate material identification. The previously used Colorband Machine was damaged, forcing the marking process to return to manual methods, which reduced accuracy and efficiency. This study aims to redesign the Colorband Machine using the VDI 2221 method, which provides a systematic framework for product development. Three design variants were generated and evaluated based on functionality, cost, technical feasibility, and safety considerations. Variant 1 was selected as the final design. Structural analysis showed a maximum moment on the grider of 0.74 kN/m with a deflection of 4.33 mm. Static simulation in SolidWorks resulted in a maximum stress of 24.72 MPa with a deflection of 1.79 mm. The redesigned machine employs pneumatic actuators with Ø100 mm air cylinders for horizontal movement and Ø80 mm for vertical movement. The results demonstrate that the Colorband Machine operates effectively and offers improved efficiency compared to manual marking. Keywords: Pipe marking, Colorband Machine, VDI 2221, machine design. Dalam industri minyak dan gas, penandaan sistematis pada pipa sangat penting untuk meningkatkan keselamatan kerja, mengurangi risiko kesalahan penggunaan, serta mempercepat proses identifikasi material. Mesin Colorband yang digunakan sebelumnya mengalami kerusakan, sehingga proses penandaan kembali dilakukan secara manual yang berdampak pada rendahnya kerapian dan efisiensi kerja. Penelitian ini bertujuan merancang ulang Colorband Machine dengan metode VDI 2221, yang memberikan pendekatan sistematis dalam proses perancangan. Dari hasil pengembangan konsep diperoleh tiga varian desain, kemudian dievaluasi berdasarkan fungsi, biaya, pengetahuan teknis, dan aspek keselamatan. Varian 1 dipilih sebagai desain akhir. Analisis struktur menunjukkan momen maksimum pada grider sebesar 0,74 kN/m dengan defleksi 4,33 mm. Simulasi statis menggunakan SolidWorks menghasilkan tegangan maksimum 24,72 MPa dengan lendutan 1,79 mm. Mesin ini menggunakan aktuator pneumatik berupa air cylinder Ø100 mm untuk gerakan horizontal dan Ø80 mm untuk gerakan vertikal. Hasil penelitian membuktikan bahwa rancangan Colorband Machine dapat berfungsi dengan baik serta lebih efisien dibandingkan metode manual.
