Abstract
Education is one of the main pillars in developing quality human resources. In Indonesia, the education system continues to evolve to meet the needs of society, including integrating religious values with a modern curriculum. The presence of boarding schools has provided an educational alternative for parents who want to send their children to school. With the rapid pace of modernity, where parents are not only working fathers but also mothers/wives, resulting in less supervised children, boarding schools have become the best place to entrust their children with essential care, including food, health, safety, social support, and most importantly, a complete education. Furthermore, the social pollution currently plaguing society, such as promiscuity, drugs, student brawls, media influence, identity crises, lack of moral guidance, and other factors, have all driven many parents to send their children to boarding schools. However, it's also undeniable that there are other factors behind parents' choice of boarding schools, such as family discord or families who are pessimistic about homeschooling. The design of the Islamic boarding school in Bintaro was also based on the need to create a holistic educational environment. A conducive environment, adequate facilities, and a curriculum that balances religious and general education are crucial factors in supporting the learning process. Keywords: Education, Islamic Boarding School Pendidikan merupakan salah satu pilar utama dalam pembangunan sumber daya manusia yang berkualitas. Di Indonesia, sistem pendidikan terus berkembang untuk memenuhi kebutuhan masyarakat, termasuk dalam hal pendidikan yang mengintegrasikan nilai-nilai keagamaan dengan kurikulum modern. Kehadiran boarding school telah memberikan alternatif pendidikan bagi para orang tua yang ingin menyekolahkan anaknya. Seiring dengan pesatnya modernitas, dimana orang tua tidak hanya ayah yang bekerja tapi juga ibu/istri pun turut bekerja sehingga anak tidak lagi terkontrol dengan baik, maka boarding school adalah tempat terbaik untuk menitipkan anak-anak mereka; baik makan, kesehatan, keamanan, sosial, dan yang paling penting adalah pendidikanya yang sempurna. Selain itu, polusi sosial yang sekarang ini melanda lingkungan kehidupan masyarakat seperti pergaulan bebas, narkoba, tawuran antarpelajar, pengaruh media, krisis identitas, kurangnya bimbingan moral dan lain-lain ikut mendorong banyak orang tua untuk menyekolahkan anaknya di boarding school. Namun juga tidak dipungkiri bahwa ada faktor-faktor lain yang melatarbelakangi kenapa orang tua memilih boarding school, yaitu keluarga yang tidak lagi harmonis atau keluarga yang sudah pesimis mendidik anaknya di rumah. Perancangan Islamic boarding school di Bintaro juga didasarkan pada kebutuhan untuk menciptakan lingkungan pendidikan yang holistik. Lingkungan yang kondusif, fasilitas yang memadai, dan kurikulum yang seimbang antara agama dan umum menjadi faktor penting dalam mendukung proses pembelajaran.
