Abstract
Train travel is a primary mode of long-distance transportation for many people due to its efficiency and high passenger capacity. However, onboard facilities for persons with disabilities remain limited, especially sanitation facility. Existing lavatories are not designed for independent use by passengers with physical limitations. Inclusive sanitation facilities are not supposed to be additional features but they are essential components of a modern public transport system. All passengers have the right to feel comfortable and be able to use basic facilities on their own, including older adults and people with disabilities. With this mindset, design becomes something useful and meaningful that also shows respect for everyone’s dignity during the trip. Adding special lavatories for priority users also helps build a positive image of the train service as public transport that cares about different needs. Designing with accessibility in mind is an important part of providing fair and respectful service. The “Priority Lavatory Module Design for Long-Distance Executive Class Passenger Train Argo Bromo Anggrek” is a product design idea that supports inclusive public transportation. This lavatory is made to meet the needs of people who need extra support, like older adults and people with disabilities. The design focuses on making the space easy to use, comfortable, and safe throughout the journey. It uses a universal design method, so anyone can use it without trouble, and it still looks good and works well. The Lavatory design is made especially for the executive class on the Argo Bromo Anggrek New Generation train and supports the move toward a more modern and welcoming public transport system. Keywords: Inclusive, Accessibility, Public Transport, Sanitation Facility, Disability Kereta api merupakan moda transportasi utama yang digunakan masyarakat untuk perjalanan jarak jauh karena efisien dan memiliki kapasitas angkut besar. Namun, fasilitas pendukung bagi penyandang disabilitas di dalam kereta masih terbatas, khususnya dalam fasilitas sanitasi. Lavatory yang tersedia belum dirancang agar dapat digunakan secara mandiri oleh pengguna dengan keterbatasan fisik. Fasilitas sanitasi yang inklusif bukan sekadar pelengkap, melainkan kebutuhan utama dalam sistem transportasi publik modern. Setiap penumpang berhak atas kenyamanan dan kemandirian saat menggunakan layanan dasar, termasuk penyandang disabilitas dan lansia. Dengan pendekatan ini, desain tidak hanya fungsional, tetapi juga menghargai martabat manusia dalam setiap perjalanan. Penyediaan lavatory prioritas juga akan memperkuat citra layanan kereta sebagai transportasi publik yang menghormati keberagaman kebutuhan penumpang. Desain yang responsif terhadap aksesibilitas merupakan bagian penting dari pelayanan yang adil dan manusiawi. “Desain Modul Lavatory Prioritas untuk Gerbong Penumpang Kereta Api Jarak Jauh Argo Bromo Anggrek Kelas Eksekutif” merupakan konsep desain produk modul lavatory yang mengusung prinsip inklusivitas dalam transportasi publik. Modul ini dirancang secara khusus untuk memenuhi kebutuhan kelompok prioritas seperti penyandang disabilitas dan lansia, dengan fokus pada kenyamanan, aksesibilitas, dan keamanan selama perjalanan. Pendekatan desain universal digunakan agar modul ini dapat digunakan dengan mudah oleh siapapun tanpa mengorbankan estetika dan fungsionalitas. Konsep Lavatory dirancang untuk layanan kelas eksekutif Kereta Api Argo Bromo Anggrek New Generation, sebagai bagian dari dukungan transformasi menuju transportasi publik modern yang lebih inklusif.
