Abstract

This study aims to determine whether there is a relationship between father involvement and self-esteem in high school students in Bogor city. The method used is correlational associative research with a quantitative approach. The sampling technique used non-probability sampling, namely accidental sampling, with a total of 138 respondents from the population of high school students in Bogor city. The instruments used include the Rosenberg Self-esteem Scale (RSES) (Rosenberg, 1965) and the Father Involvement Scale (Goncy & Van Dulmen, 2010). The results showed that there is a strong positive relationship between father involvement and self-esteem of high school students in Bogor city. This finding indicates that the higher the father's role involvement in parenting, the higher the self-esteem of high school students. Conversely, the lower the father's involvement in parenting, the lower the self-esteem of high school students. This study underscores the importance of direct father involvement in the lives of high school students such as increasing communication and doing activities together, and building and providing emotional support, to maintain high self-esteem in high school students.
