Abstract

The Ciputat area has undergone rapid development, leading to a growing need for public spaces that benefit the community. To address this need, the project focuses on the architectural design of an Islamic Centre in Ciputat, which will repurpose the former function of The Spring Residence apartments into a community center with various worship, educational, and social facilities. The Islamic Centre is designed as a multifunctional space to support the lives of the local Muslim community by providing worship facilities, educational spaces, seminar rooms, and social activity areas. The modern tropical architectural approach is applied to ensure a design that responds to the local climate, taking into account the sun's orientation, natural ventilation, and the use of environmentally friendly materials. The application of tropical architectural principles aims to create comfortable, energy-efficient, and sustainable spaces. The planned facilities include a mosque, classrooms, an auditorium, seminar rooms, and commercial areas for small and medium enterprises (SMEs), with the goal of increasing community participation and strengthening Islamic identity. In addition to meeting spiritual and social needs, the Islamic Centre in Ciputat is expected to have a positive impact on the local economy, especially for SMEs around the location, by increasing community activities and interactions. This project aims not only to create physically harmonious spaces but also to address modernization challenges while maintaining traditional values. With the right architectural approach, the design of the Islamic Centre is expected to serve as a model for developing inclusive, sustainable public spaces that bring real benefits to the surrounding community. Keywords: Islamic Centre, modern tropical architecture, public space needs, Ciputat Kawasan Ciputat telah mengalami perkembangan pesat yang memunculkan kebutuhan akan ruang publik yang bermanfaat bagi masyarakat. Dalam upaya menjawab kebutuhan tersebut, proyek ini berfokus pada perancangan arsitektur Islamic Centre di Ciputat, yang menggantikan fungsi apartemen The Spring Residence menjadi pusat komunitas dengan berbagai fasilitas ibadah, pendidikan, dan sosial. Islamic Centre ini dirancang untuk menjadi ruang multifungsi yang dapat mendukung kehidupan masyarakat Muslim setempat melalui penyediaan fasilitas ibadah, ruang pendidikan, seminar, dan kegiatan sosial. Pendekatan arsitektur tropis modern diterapkan untuk memastikan desain yang responsif terhadap iklim lokal, dengan memperhatikan orientasi matahari, ventilasi alami, serta penggunaan material yang ramah lingkungan. Penerapan prinsip-prinsip arsitektur tropis diharapkan menciptakan ruang yang nyaman, efisien dalam penggunaan energi, dan berkelanjutan. Fasilitas-fasilitas yang direncanakan mencakup masjid, ruang kelas, auditorium, ruang seminar, dan area komersial untuk usaha kecil dan menengah (UKM), dengan tujuan meningkatkan partisipasi komunitas dan memperkuat identitas keislaman. Selain memenuhi kebutuhan spiritual dan sosial, Islamic Centre di Ciputat diharapkan memberikan dampak positif bagi perekonomian lokal, terutama bagi UKM di sekitar lokasi, melalui peningkatan aktivitas dan interaksi komunitas. Proyek ini tidak hanya bertujuan untuk menciptakan ruang yang harmonis secara fisik, tetapi juga untuk menjawab tantangan modernisasi dengan tetap menjunjung tinggi nilai-nilai tradisional. Dengan pendekatan arsitektur yang tepat, perancangan Islamic Centre ini diharapkan dapat menjadi model pengembangan ruang publik yang inklusif, berkelanjutan, dan memberikan manfaat nyata bagi masyarakat sekitar.
