Abstract
The year 2023 was declared the hottest year on record since the preindustrial era. This phenomenon has been driven by human activities that exploit natural resources excessively without regard for environmental aspects. As a result, the continuously rising temperatures have created a dilemma for humans—beings with both potential and instinct—whether to ignore or to anticipate the effects of global warming. This study discusses individuals’ levels of awareness, knowledge, and concern about environmental conditions by examining the influence of the variables Environmental Awareness, Environmental Knowledge, and Environmental Concern on Green Purchase Intention. The population and sample in this study consist of 130 respondents residing on the island of Java, selected through purposive sampling. The research uses a quantitative approach with Partial Least Squares (PLS) as the analytical tool. The results reveal that individuals who possess environmental awareness, knowledge, and concern are more likely to be mindful of their activities and support environmental sustainability through the use of eco-friendly materials and consumer products in fulfilling their needs and desires. The conclusion of this study indicates that Environmental Awareness, Environmental Knowledge, and Environmental Concern have a positive and significant influence on Green Purchase Intention. Tahun 2023 dinobatkan sebagai tahun terpanas sepanjang periode praindustri hingga saat ini, fenomena ini dipicu oleh aktivitas manusia yang secara eksploitatif memanfaatkan sumber daya alam tanpa mementingkan aspek-aspek lingkungan, sehingga kondisi suhu yang terus meningkat mendatangkan sebuah dilema berupa pilihan kepada manusia-sebagai makhluk yang memiliki potensi dan naluri-untuk tetap mengabaikan atau mengantisipasi pemanasan global. Tingkat kesadaran, pengetahuan, dan kepedulian seseorang terhadap kondisi lingkungan akan dibahas dalam penelitian ini berupa pengujian variabel Environmental Awareness, Environmental Knowledge, dan Environmental Concern terhadap Green Purchase Intention. Adapun populasi maupun sampel yang diteliti merupakan masyarakat yang berdomisili di pulau jawa sebanyak 130 responden melalui metode purposive sampling dan penelitian ini bersifat kuantitatif menggunakan alat ukur Partial Least Square (PLS). Hasil dari penelitian ini terungkap bahwa seseorang yang memiliki kesadaran, pengetahuan, dan kepedulian terhadap kondisi lingkungan mereka akan cenderung memperhatikan aktivitasaktivitasnya untuk membantu melestarikan lingkungan melalui penggunaan bahanbahan maupun barang-barang konsumsi dalam memenuhi kebutuhan dan keinginannya berlandaskan pada aspek-aspek yang ramah lingkungan. Kesimpulan dalam penelitian ini, Environmental Awareness, Environmental Knowledge, dan Environmental Concern memberikan pengaruh positif dan signifikan terhadap Green Purchase Intention.
