Abstract

In the current era of technological development, several service companies require a communication network that is faster and has high availability so that a redundancy topology is used to meet these needs, but it is necessary to pay attention again to the topology of a redundant network which must have network management so as not to disrupt network performance used. In this research, the analysis is carried out to ensure that the network can function properly on a network with a redundancy topology, where problems that occur in this topology give rise to broadcast storms on the layer 2 network including looping and duplicate packets that are sent continuously so that a network can experiencing total down. To overcome this broadcaststorm, the Re-engineering method is used with the implementation of Spanning Tree Protocol and Link Aggregation which functions as redundant network management and prevents looping on the network. The results to be achieved in this research are to provide a simulated description of the occurrence of a broadcast storm and to apply the Re-engineering method by implementing Spanning Tree Protocol and Link Aggregation to handle looping and duplicate packets in a network. Keyword : Link Aggregation, Spanning Tree Protocol, Broadcast Storm Dalam era perkembangan teknologisaat ini, beberapa perusahaan jasa membutuhkan suatu jaringan komunikasi yang lebih cepat dan memiliki availability yang tinggi sehingga topologi redundancy digunakan untuk memenuhi kebutuhan tersebut, namun perlu diperhatikan kembali topologisuatu jaringan yang redundancy harus memliki manajemen network agar tidak mengganggu performance pada jaringan yang digunakan. Pada penelitian ini, analisa yang dilakukan untuk memastikan jaringan network dapat berfungsi dengan baik pada jaringan dengan topologi redundancy, dimana permasalahan yang terjadi pada topologi tersebut menimbulkan adanya broadcast storm pada jaringan layer 2 meliputi looping dan duplicate paket yang dikirimkan secara terus menerus sehingga suatu jaringan dapat mengalami totally down. Dalam mengatasi broadcast storm ini digunakan metode Re-engineering dengan implementasi Spanning Tree Protocol dan Link Aggregation yang berfungsi sebagai manajemen jaringan redundant dan mencegah terjadinya looping pada jaringan. Hasil yang ingin dicapai pada penelitian ini yaitu memberikan gambaran simulasi terjadinya broadcast storm dan melakukan penerapan metode Re-engineering dengan implementasi Spanning Tree Protocol dan Link Aggregation untuk menangani looping dan duplicate paket dalam suatu jaringan.
