Abstract

Emerging adulthood is often faced with high social demands, where there are great expectations regarding achievements in various aspects of life such as career, education, and romantic relationships. Fear of negative evaluation refers to the anxiety that arises when individuals feel they will be judged badly by others, which can affect their behavior patterns and social interactions in this case selfacceptance is the solution to individual problems, accepting oneself completely and unconditionally by acting competently and intelligently without caring about the approval of others.This study uses quantitative methods with a correlational design, with the aim of knowing whether there is a relationship between self-acceptance and fear of negative evaluation in emerging adulthood in Jabodetabek. The research sample was 150 emerging adulthood in Jabodetabek, obtained by accidental sampling technique. The instruments used in this study are Brief Fear of Negative Evaluation Scale-II (BFNE-II) to measure fear of negative evaluation, and the Berger's Self-Acceptance Scale to measure self-acceptance. Data were analysis using Spearman's Rho correlation test. The results showed that there is a significant negative relationship between self-acceptance and fear of negative evaluation in emerging adulthood in Jabodetabek. This means that the higher the level of selfacceptance possessed by individuals, the lower the level of fear of negative evaluation felt and the other way. Keywords : Fear of Negative Evaluation, Self-Acceptance, Emerging Adulthood Emerging adulthood seringkali dihadapkan pada tuntutan sosial yang tinggi, dimana terdapat ekspektasi yang besar terkait pencapaian dalam berbagai aspek kehidupan seperti karir, pendidikan, dan hubungan asmara. Fear of negative evaluation merujuk pada rasa cemas yang muncul ketika individu merasa akan dinilai buruk oleh orang lain, yang dapat mempengaruhi pola perilaku dan interaksi sosial mereka dalam hal ini self-acceptance merupakan solusi dari permasalahan individu, menerima diri sendiri secara keseluruhan dan tanpa syarat dengan bertindak kompeten dan cerdas tanpa memperdulikan persetujuan orang lain. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kuantitatif dengan desain korelasional, dengan tujuan untuk mengetahui apakah terdapat hubungan antara self-acceptance dengan fear of negative evaluation pada emerging adulthood di Jabodetabek. Sampel penelitian adalah 150 emerging adulthood di Jabodetabek, diperoleh dengan teknik accidental sampling. Instrumen yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah Brief Fear of Negative Evaluation Scale-II (BFNE-II) untuk mengukur fear of negative evaluation, Berger’s Self- Acceptance Scale untuk mengukur self-acceptance. Analisis data dilakukan dengan Spearman’s Rho. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat hubungan negatif yang signifikan antara self-acceptance dengan fear of negative evaluation pada emerging adulthood di Jabodetabek. Artinya, semakin tinggi tingkat self-acceptance yang dimiliki oleh individu, maka akan semakin rendah tingkat fear of negative evaluation yang dirasakan dan sebaliknya.
