Abstract

Anime Josee, the Tiger and the Fish (2020) mengisahkan perjalanan cinta antara Josee, seorang gadis dengan keterbatasan fisik, dan Tsuneo, seorang mahasiswa yang bekerja sebagai asistennya. Film ini tidak hanya menampilkan hubungan romantis mereka, tetapi juga menyampaikan pesan moral terkait kompleksitas hubungan dalam konteks keluarga dan sosial. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis tanda-tanda, simbol, dan pesan tersembunyi yang merepresentasikan kompleksitas hubungan romantika dalam film ini, serta memahami implikasi pesan moralnya bagi kehidupan nyata. Film, sebagai seni yang kompleks dan multidimensi, berperan penting dalam menyampaikan pesan melalui elemen visual, audio, dan naratif. Anime, dengan gaya visual dan naratif yang khas, memiliki keunikan tersendiri. Contohnya, Josee, the Tiger and the Fish tidak hanya menyajikan cerita yang menarik tetapi juga mengandung pesan moral mendalam, seperti pentingnya kesabaran, pengorbanan, dan keberanian dalam menghadapi keterbatasan, yang relevan untuk memahami kompleksitas hubungan manusia. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan pendekatan interpretatif, menerapkan analisis semiotik Roland Barthes pada adegan dan teks dalam film Josee, the Tiger and the Fish. Metode ini mengidentifikasi dan menginterpretasikan tanda serta simbol dalam film untuk mengungkap makna yang lebih dalam. Kajian juga mencakup analisis naratif dan visual untuk memahami kontribusi elemen-elemen tersebut dalam menyampaikan pesan moral terkait kompleksitas hubungan romantis, terutama dalam konteks keluarga dan sosial. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa film ini menggambarkan kompleksitas hubungan romantis melalui simbolisme yang mendalam, seperti tanda-tanda kesulitan dan dukungan, makna penerimaan diri, serta mitos keberanian dan pengorbanan. Film ini juga menekankan pentingnya empati dan komunikasi jujur dalam membangun hubungan yang sehat. The anime Josee, the Tiger and the Fish (2020) tells the love story between Josee, a girl with physical limitations, and Tsuneo, a college student who works as her assistant. This film not only portrays their romantic relationship but also conveys moral messages about the complexity of relationships within family and social contexts. The aim of this research is to analyze the signs, symbols, and hidden messages that represent the complexities of romantic relationships in this film, and to understand the implications of these moral messages for real life. Film, as a complex and multidimensional art form, plays a crucial role in conveying messages through visual, audio, and narrative elements. Anime, with its distinctive visual and narrative style, possesses its own uniqueness. For example, Josee, the Tiger and the Fish not only presents an engaging story but also carries deep moral messages, such as the importance of patience, sacrifice, and courage in facing limitations, which are relevant to understanding the complexity of human relationships. The findings reveal that the film portrays the complexities of romantic relationships through profound symbolism, such as signs of struggle and support, the meaning of self-acceptance, and the myths of courage and sacrifice. The film also emphasizes the importance of empathy and honest communication in building healthy relationships. This research employs a qualitative method with an interpretative approach, applying Roland Barthes' semiotic analysis to the scenes and texts in the film Josee, the Tiger and the Fish. This method identifies and interprets the signs and symbols within the film to reveal deeper meanings. The study also includes narrative and visual analysis to understand how these elements contribute to conveying moral messages related to the complexity of romantic relationships, particularly in the context of family and society.
