Abstract
Orchestral music plays a significant role in the development of human culture, offering richness and complexity that provide a profound emotional experience. BSD City, as a rapidly growing independent city, holds great potential to become a center for orchestral music appreciation. However, existing facilities, such as ICE BSD, have not fully accommodated comprehensive activities related to orchestral music education, practice, and appreciation. Therefore, an integrated orchestral district is needed, serving not only as a performance venue but also as a center for talent development and music education. The design of this district adopts the concept of "Architecture as a Frozen Music," translating musical elements into architectural forms through a metaphorical approach. This concept is embodied in the design of the Orchestra Theater Building, inspired by Ludwig van Beethoven’s Symphony No. 5, which reflects dynamics, rhythm, and emotion in spatial form. Through this approach, the orchestral district in BSD City is expected to enhance public appreciation of orchestral music and contribute to the development of arts and culture in Indonesia. Musik orkestra memiliki peran penting dalam perkembangan budaya manusia, dengan kekayaan dan kompleksitas yang mampu memberikan pengalaman emosional mendalam. BSD City, sebagai kota mandiri yang berkembang pesat, memiliki potensi besar untuk menjadi pusat apresiasi musik orkestra. Namun, fasilitas yang tersedia, seperti ICE BSD, belum sepenuhnya mewadahi kegiatan edukasi, latihan, dan apresiasi musik orkestra secara komprehensif. Oleh karena itu, diperlukan kawasan orkestra terintegrasi yang tidak hanya berfungsi sebagai tempat pertunjukan, tetapi juga sebagai pusat pengembangan bakat dan edukasi. Perancangan kawasan ini mengusung konsep "Architecture as a Frozen Music," yang menerjemahkan elemen musik ke dalam bentuk arsitektur melalui pendekatan metafora. Konsep ini diwujudkan dalam desain Gedung Teater Orkestra yang terinspirasi oleh Simfoni No. 5 karya Ludwig van Beethoven, yang mencerminkan dinamika, ritme, dan emosi dalam bentuk spasial. Dengan pendekatan ini, diharapkan kawasan orkestra di BSD City dapat meningkatkan apresiasi masyarakat terhadap musik orkestra serta memberikan kontribusi bagi perkembangan seni dan budaya di Indonesia.
