Abstract
This study aims to examine the role of job crafting as a mediator in the relationship between work engagement and career adaptability among Gen Z workers in JABODETABEK. Workers with high levels of work engagement are motivated to seek career development opportunities, which can enhance their career adaptability. This study employs a quantitative method with a correlational research design using a mediator. Data were collected using the Career AdaptAbilities Scale-Short Form (CAAS-SF), consisting of 12 items with four dimensions; the Utrecht Work Engagement Scale-9 (UWES-9), consisting of three dimensions and nine items, which is a modified version of UWES-17; and the Job Crafting Questionnaire (JCQ), consisting of 21 items with four dimensions. The research subjects are active workers in JABODETABEK born between 1997 and 2012. The total number of respondents in this study is 498. The results were analyzed using PROCESS V4.0 for SPSS by Andrew F. Hayes and indicate that job crafting serves as a mediator between work engagement and career adaptability. Based on these findings, work engagement and career adaptability have a positive and significant relationship. However, this relationship disappears when mediated by job crafting. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui peranan job crafting sebagai mediator dalam hubungan work engagement dengan career adaptability pekerja Gen Z di JABODETABEK. Pekerja dengan tingkat work engagement yang tinggi akan memiliki motivasi dalam mencari peluang perkembangan karir miliknya, hal ini dapat meningkatkan tingkat career adaptability atau kemampuan adaptasi karir seseorang. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kuantitatif dengan desain penelitian korelasional menggunakan mediator. Data dikumpulkan menggunakan alat ukur Career Adapt-Abilities Scale-Short Form (CAAS-SF) terdiri dari 12 item dengan empat dimensi, Utrecht Work Engagement Scale-9 (UWES-9) terdiri dari tiga dimensi dan 9 item alat ukur ini merupakan hasil modifikasi dari UWES-17, serta Job-Crafting Questionnaire (JCQ) terdiri dari 21 item dengan empat dimensi. Subjek penelitian ini adalah pekerja aktif di JABODETABEK yang lahir pada tahun 1997 sampai dengan 2012. Jumlah responden dalam penelitian ini berjumlah 498 responden. Hasil penelitian ini didapat dari PROCESS V4.0 untuk SPSS oleh Andrew F. Hayes. dan menunjukkan bahwa job crafting berperan sebagai mediator antara work engagement dengan career adaptability. Berdasarkan hasil tersebut bahwa work engagement dengan career adaptability memiliki hubungan positif dan signifikan, akan tetapi nilai hubungan tersebut akan hilang saat melewati job crafting.
