Abstract
The development of independence in adolescents is one of the most important aspects of developmental psychology that is influenced by several factors, including parenting and the attachment relationship between children and parents. With the fulfillment of the role of parents can affect the development of children. This study aims to examine the influence of attachment and parental psychological control on the independence of adolescents raised by single parents. This correlational quantitative research uses a sampling method with the type of Non-robability Sampling with the Purposives sampling technique involving 212 adolescent respondents who were raised by single parents. The measuring tools used in this study were the independence scale developed by Suharnan (2012), the Inventory of Parent and Peer Attachment (IPPA) which was adapted and modified linguistically by Natris Indriyani (2020), and the Psychological Control Scale-Youth Self-Report (PCS-YSR; Barber et al., 2012) in the Indonesian version. The data in this study was analyzed using a multiple linear regression test with the help of the IBM SPSS for windows application. The results of the study proved that attachment and parental psychological control together had a significant effect on the independence of adolescents raised by single parents. Keywords: Attachment, Parental Psychological Control, Independence Perkembangan kemandirian pada remaja adalah salah satu aspek terpenting dalam psikologi perkembangan yang dipengaruhi oleh beberapa faktor, termasuk pola asuh dan hubungan kelekatan antara anak dan orang tua. Dengan terpenuhinya peranan orang tua dapat mempengaruhi perkembangan anak. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji pengaruh attachment dan parental psychological control terhadap kemandirian remaja yang dibesarkan oleh orang tua tunggal (single parent). Penelitian kuantitatif korelasional ini menggunakan metode pengambilan sampel dengan jenis Non-Probability Sampling dengan teknik Purposives sampling yang melibatkan 212 responden remaja yang dibesarkan oleh orang tua tunggal (single parent). Alat ukur yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah skala kemandirian yang dikembangkan oleh Suharnan (2012), Inventory of Parent and Peer Attachment (IPPA) yang diadaptasi dan dimodifikasi secara bahasa oleh Natris Indriyani (2020), dan Psychological Control Scale-Youth Self-Report (PCS-YSR; Barber et al., 2012) dalam versi Indonesia. Data pada penelitian ini dianalisis menggunakan uji regresi linier berganda dengan bantuan aplikasi IBM SPSS for windows. Hasil penelitian membuktikan bahwa attachment dan parental psychological control secara bersama-sama berpengaruh secara signifikan terhadap kemandirian remaja yang dibesarkan oleh orang tua tunggal (single parent).
