Abstract

The development of information technology has had a broad impact, including an increase in student involvement in online gambling, which initially began as a habit of playing games. Online gambling involves the act of wagering something of value, creating tension and anticipation for the players. This study aims to investigate the influence of various factors on the interest and behavior of Universitas Mercu Buana students in using online gambling websites. The factors examined include ease of use, social influence, economic factors, and attitudes toward gambling. The data in this study were analyzed using Python with statistical and machine learning libraries such as pandas, numpy, and scikit-learn. The analysis aims to model the relationships between the specified variables, including latent variables that cannot be measured directly. This approach can address non-normal data distributions and small sample sizes, allowing for simultaneous and exploratory hypothesis testing. The results of the study show that ease of use and social influence have the greatest contribution to students' interest and behavior in using online gambling websites. Easy access and a simple interface encourage students to become more engaged in online gambling. Additionally, social influence, such as friends and social environments, strengthens this tendency. Economic factors also play a role, although their contribution is smaller compared to the two main factors, while attitudes toward gambling have proven to have less impact. Further analysis shows that younger students and those in the earlier semesters are more vulnerable to this behavior. These findings can be used as a basis for designing more effective prevention or intervention programs to reduce the negative impact of online gambling among students. Perkembangan teknologi informasi membawa dampak yang luas, termasuk meningkatnya keterlibatan mahasiswa dalam perjudian online, yang awalnya hanya berawal dari kebiasaan bermain game. Perjudian online melibatkan tindakan mempertaruhkan sesuatu yang bernilai, menciptakan ketegangan dan harapan bagi para pemain. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menginvestigasi pengaruh berbagai faktor terhadap minat dan perilaku mahasiswa Universitas Mercu Buana dalam menggunakan website judi online. Faktor-faktor yang diteliti meliputi kemudahan penggunaan, pengaruh sosial, faktor ekonomi, dan sikap terhadap perjudian. Data dalam penelitian ini dianalisis menggunakan Python dengan pustaka statistik dan machine learning seperti pandas, numpy, dan scikit-learn. Analisis ini bertujuan untuk memodelkan hubungan antara variabel-variabel yang telah ditentukan, termasuk variabel laten yang tidak dapat diukur langsung. Pendekatan ini dapat mengatasi distribusi data yang tidak normal serta ukuran sampel yang kecil, memungkinkan pengujian hipotesis secara simultan dan eksploratif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa faktor kemudahan penggunaan dan pengaruh sosial memiliki kontribusi terbesar terhadap minat dan perilaku mahasiswa dalam menggunakan website judi online. Kemudahan akses dan antarmuka yang sederhana mendorong mahasiswa untuk lebih terlibat dalam perjudian online. Selain itu, pengaruh sosial, seperti teman dan lingkungan, memperkuat kecenderungan ini. Faktor ekonomi turut berperan meskipun kontribusinya lebih kecil dibandingkan dua faktor utama tersebut, sementara sikap terhadap perjudian terbukti kurang berpengaruh. Analisis lebih lanjut menunjukkan bahwa mahasiswa yang lebih muda dan berada pada semester awal lebih rentan terhadap perilaku ini. Temuan ini dapat digunakan sebagai dasar untuk merancang program pencegahan atau intervensi yang lebih efektif dalam mengurangi dampak negatif perjudian online di kalangan mahasiswa.
