Abstract

Improving product quality through process improvement is a need that must be met to increase productivity and meet customer satisfaction, such as in motorbike fuel tanks. As one of the components that has the potential to cause fires, defects in the fuel tank must be reduced as much as possible with the aim of not only reducing production waste but also to further increase driving safety. A quality assurance strategy to reduce defects needs to be carried out at every stage of the component assembly process, such as installing patch components on the Upper/bottom plate of the fuel tank. The process of problem identification, measurement, analysis, improvement and control in this research uses the DMAIC method and DOE process to find optimal solutions to reduce defects. The results of the process improvement show a reduction in hole misalignment defects from 1.49% to 0.01%. With a CTQ of 2, the production process performance measurement before improvement has a DPMO value of 7459 to 52 and is equivalent to an increase in the sigma value from 3.93 to 5.38. Based on the four block diagram, there is a shift in the quadrant from C to D or there is a technological improvement. Keywords: Quality Improvement, Hole Misalignment, DMAIC, DOE, Four Block Diagram Peningkatan kualitas produk melalui perbaikan proses merupakan kebutuhan yang harus dipenuhi untuk dapat meningkatkan produktivitas dan memenuhi kepuasan pelanggan seperti pada tangki bahan bakar sepeda motor. Sebagai salah satu komponen yang berpotensi menimbulkan terjadinya kebakaran maka cacat yang terjadi pada tangki bahan bakar harus dikurangi semaksimal mungkin dengan tujuan selain mengurangi pemborosan produksi juga untuk lebih meningkatkan jaminan keselamatan berkendara. Strategi penjaminan kualitas untuk mengurangi cacat perlu dilakukan pada setiap tahap proses perakitan komponen seperti pemasangan komponen patch terhadap Upper/bottom plate fuel tank. Proses identifikasi masalah, pengukuran, analisa, improvement serta kontrol pada penelitian ini menggunakan metode DMAIC dan proses DOE untuk menemukan solusi yang optimal untuk mengurangi cacat. Hasil perbaikan proses menunjukkan terjadi pengurangan cacat hole misalignment dari 1,49% menjadi 0,01%. Dengan CTQ sebesar 2, pengukuran kinerja proses produksi sebelum perbaikan memiliki nilai DPMO 7459 menjadi 52 dan setara dengan peningkatan nilai sigma dari 3,93 menjadi 5,38. Berdasarkan four block diagram terjadi perpindahan kuadran dari C ke D atau terjadi perbaikan secara teknologi. Kata Kunci: Quality Improvement, Hole Misalignment, DMAIC, DOE, Four Block Diagram
