Abstract
The food industry has a high dependence on wheat flour as the main raw material in various products such as bread, noodles, and cakes. The wheat flour processing process involves grinding wheat with a roll mill machine, which is key in determining the quality of the final product while affecting energy efficiency. In the operational context, the electrical energy efficiency per ton of milled wheat is one of the main indicators to assess the performance of the mill. This study aims to analyze the influence of milling capacity on electrical energy consumption in roll mills in Line A and Line B, each of which has different configurations and operational characteristics. This research method involves collecting data on electrical energy consumption and milling capacity from both lines over a certain period. The data was analyzed to identify energy consumption patterns and factors affecting operational efficiency. The results showed that there was a significant difference in electrical energy consumption per ton of wheat between Line A and Line B, which was caused by variations in machine settings and milled material characteristics. Line A shows higher energy efficiency at a given milling capacity than Line B, while Line B has the advantage of a larger milling capacity. This research makes an important contribution to the wheat milling industry in an effort to optimize the use of electrical energy and reduce operational costs. In addition, the results of this study are also relevant in supporting environmental sustainability through carbon emission reduction. The conclusions obtained are expected to be the basis for the development of future energy efficiency improvement strategies, both on an industrial scale and in advanced research. Proses pengolahan tepung terigu melibatkan penggilingan gandum dengan mesin roll mill, yang menjadi kunci dalam menentukan kualitas produk akhir sekaligus memengaruhi efisiensi energi. Dalam konteks operasional, efisiensi energi listrik per ton gandum yang digiling merupakan salah satu indikator utama untuk menilai performa pabrik. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengaruh kapasitas giling terhadap konsumsi energi listrik pada roll mill di Line A dan Line B, yang masing-masing memiliki konfigurasi dan karakteristik operasional yang berbeda. Metode penelitian ini melibatkan pengumpulan data konsumsi energi listrik dan kapasitas giling dari kedua lini selama periode tertentu. Data dianalisis untuk mengidentifikasi pola konsumsi energi dan faktor-faktor yang memengaruhi efisiensi operasional. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya perbedaan signifikan dalam konsumsi energi listrik per ton gandum antara Line A dan Line B, yang disebabkan oleh variasi pengaturan mesin dan karakteristik material yang digiling. Line A menunjukkan efisiensi energi yang lebih tinggi pada kapasitas giling tertentu dibandingkan Line B, sementara Line B memiliki keunggulan pada kapasitas giling yang lebih besar. Penelitian ini memberikan kontribusi penting bagi industri penggilingan gandum dalam upaya mengoptimalkan penggunaan energi listrik dan mengurangi biaya operasional. Selain itu, hasil penelitian ini juga relevan dalam mendukung keberlanjutan lingkungan melalui pengurangan emisi karbon. Kesimpulan yang diperoleh diharapkan menjadi dasar bagi pengembangan strategi peningkatan efisiensi energi di masa depan, baik dalam skala industri maupun penelitian lanjutan.
