Abstract

Pelletizer machine is a tool that produces sawdust or biomass into cylindrical shape. In designing the machine, production capacity needs to be determined because it is an important factor in determining the efficiency and productivity of the production process. One of the factors that affect the production capacity of a pelletizer machine is the water content and the mixture of raw materials for making wood pellets. The purpose of this study was to analyze the effect of water content and the composition of the wood pellet raw material mixture on the production capacity of the pelletizer machine in order to optimize the setting of the right water content and percentage of raw materials. The study was conducted experimentally to find the effect of water content and percentage of raw material mixture on the production capacity of the pelletizer machine. Testing was carried out with variations using sawdust with a water content of 10%, 15%, and 20% with adhesive material (tapioca flour) of 10%, 15% and 20% of the total weight of raw materials for testing. The results of the study showed that the water content in sawdust and the percentage of tapioca flour affected the value of the production capacity of the pelletizer machine. The largest pellet production capacity was at a water content of 20% with a ratio of 80% sawdust and 20% tapioca flour producing a value of 51.46 kg/hour. The higher the water content in sawdust and the percentage of adhesive in the dough, the greater the production results. Keywords: Pelletizer Machine, Production Capacity, Water Content, Raw Material Mixture Mesin pelletizer merupakan suatu alat yang memproduksi serbuk kayu atau biomassa menjadi bentuk silinder. Dalam perancangan mesin perlu ditentukan kapasitas produksi karena merupakan faktor penting dalam menentukan efisiensi dan produktivitas proses produksi. Salah satu faktor yang mempengaruhi kapasitas produksi pada mesin pelletizer adalah kadar air dan campuran bahan baku pembuatan wood pellet. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk menganalisis pengaruh kadar air dan komposisi campuran bahan baku wood pellet terhadap kapasitas produksi pada mesin pelletizer guna mengoptimalkan pengaturan kadar air dan persentase bahan baku yang tepat. Penelitian dilakukan secara eksperimen untuk menemukan pengaruh kadar air dan persentase campuran bahan baku terhadap kapasitas produksi pada mesin pelletizer. Pengujian dilakukan dengan variasi menggunakan serbuk kayu yang memiliki kadar air 10%, 15%, dan 20% dengan bahan perekat (tepung tapioka) sebesar 10%, 15% dan 20% dari total berat bahan baku untuk pengujian. Hasil penelitian diperoleh bahwa kadar air pada serbuk kayu dan persentase tepung tapioka berpengaruh terhadap nilai kapasitas produksi pada mesin pelletizer. Kapasitas produksi pelet terbesar berada pada kadar air 20% dengan perbandingan 80% serbuk kayu dan 20% tepung tapioka menghasilkan nilai sebesar 51,46 kg/jam. Semakin tinggi nilai kadar air pada serbuk kayu dan persentase perekat pada adonan maka hasil produksinya semakin lebih banyak.
