Abstract
Film is an effective medium for conveying moral and social messages, including contemporary issues such as data privacy protection. In the digital era, where personal data is vulnerable to threats, awareness of the importance of privacy protection becomes crucial. This study aims to analyze how the film "Unlocked" by Kim Tae Joon conveys moral messages regarding data privacy protection through signs and meanings. The method used is semiotic analysis with a qualitative approach, utilizing a constructivist paradigm. Five key scenes from the film were selected as units of analysis to significantly depict data privacy issues. Each scene was analyzed to identify symbols that construct the narrative of moral messages regarding privacy protection in the digital era. The results show that "Unlocked" effectively conveys moral messages about the risks of data theft, misuse of information, and the importance of vigilance over personal data privacy. This film provides valuable insights for viewers on the importance of safeguarding personal data privacy and offers perspectives for filmmakers and educators in communicating this issue. Film merupakan medium yang efektif untuk menyampaikan pesan moral dan sosial, termasuk isu kontemporer seperti perlindungan privasi data. Dalam era digital, di mana data pribadi rentan terhadap ancaman, kesadaran akan pentingnya perlindungan privasi menjadi sangat krusial. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis bagaimana film "Unlocked" karya Kim Tae Joon menyampaikan pesan moral mengenai perlindungan privasi data melalui tanda dan makna. Penelitian ini menggunakan konsep semiotika Ferdinand de Saussure, yang memandang tanda sebagai kombinasi antara penanda dan petanda. Dengan pendekatan ini, tanda-tanda dalam film "Unlocked" seperti scene dan dialog untuk memahami makna yang terkait dengan isu privasi data. Metode yang digunakan adalah analisis semiotika dengan pendekatan kualitatif, serta menggunakan paradigma konstruktivisme. Lima adegan kunci dalam film dipilih sebagai unit analisis untuk menggambarkan isu privasi data secara signifikan. Setiap adegan dianalisis untuk mengidentifikasi simbol-simbol yang membangun narasi mengenai pesan moral perlindungan privasi di era digital. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa "Unlocked" secara efektif menyampaikan pesan moral tentang risiko pencurian data, penyalahgunaan informasi, dan pentingnya kewaspadaan terhadap privasi data pribadi. Film ini memberikan wawasan berharga bagi penonton tentang pentingnya menjaga privasi data pribadi serta memberikan perspektif bagi pembuat film dan pendidik dalam mengkomunikasikan isu tersebut.
