Abstract
Film as a medium of social representation. The focus of the research is to analyze the representation of feminism in the character Katara in the film Avatar. The aim of the research is to determine the representation of feminism based on Peirce's semiotic analysis. Feminism emerged as a response to the understanding of position as a relationship pattern that positions men as subjects and superiors who dominate women. Therefore, the feminist movement is a resistance to male hegemony over women. In the beginning, feminists fought for basic human rights The research method used in this research is qualitative with Charles Sanders Peirce's semiotic approach. The data collection techniques used are observation and documentation, in the form of scene clips from the film Series Avatar: The Last Airbender 2024 The results of this research show that feminism in the film Series Avatar: The Last Airbender is shown as a characteristic of feminism, such as gender equality (Liberal), Struggle (Radical), Strength and Tenderness (Ecofeminism), Community empowerment (Marxist), Equality and justice (socialist) , Deconstruction (Post Modern). Film sebagai media representasi sosial. Fokus penelitian untuk menganalisis representasi feminisme pada karakter Katara dalam film Avatar. Tujuan penelitian untuk mengetahui representasi feminisme berdasarkan analisis semiotika Pierce. Feminisme muncul sebagai tanggapan terhadap pemahaman tentang posisi sebagai pola relasi yang menempatkan laki-laki sebagai subyek dan kaum superior yang mendominasi kaum perempuan. Oleh karena itu gerakan feminisme adalah perlawanan terhadap hegemoni laki-laki terhadap perempuan. Pada awalnya, kaum feminis memperjuangkan hak dasar manusia Metode penelitian yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah kualitatif dengan pendekatan semiotika Charles Sanders Peirce. Adapun teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan yaitu observasi dan dokumentasi, berupa potongan scene pada film Series Avatar: The Last Airbender 2024 Hasil Penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa Feminisme pada film Series Avatar: The Last Airbender ditampilkan sebagai sifat feminisme, seperti kesetaraan gender (Liberal), Perjuangan (Radikal), Kekuatan dan Kelembutan (Ekofeminisme), Pemberdayaan masyarakat (Marxis), Kesetaraan dan keadilan (sosialis), Dekonstruksi (Post Modern).
