Abstract

Recently, there have been many suicides in Indonesia, especially among students. Before a suicide event occurs, it must begin with suicide ideation in the individual. Suicide ideation is the first step to see suicidal behavior and intentions as well as the risk of suicide in the future. This study aims to determine the effect of loneliness and family communication on suicide ideation in early adulthood. Through accidental sampling technique, 334 early adult respondents were obtained. The measuring instruments used were UCLA Loneliness (Version 3), Family Communication Scale, and Scale for Suicide Ideation. Data were analyzed using multiple linear regression tests. The results showed that loneliness has a positive effect on suicide ideation (Sig. 0.003<0.05). That is, if loneliness increases, suicide ideation also increases. Family Communication negatively affects suicide ideation with a value of (Sig. 0.000<0.05). which means that if Family Communication increases, suicide ideation decreases. Furthermore, simultaneously, loneliness and Family Communication have a significant effect on suicide ideation (Sig. 0.000<0.05). Keywords: Suicide Ideation, Loneliness, Family Communication, Early Adult Beberapa waktu belakangan marak terjadi kasus bunuh diri di Indonesia khususnya di kalangan mahasiswa. Sebelum terjadinya peristiwa bunuh diri, pasti diawali dengan adanya Ideasi bunuh diri atau suicide ideation pada diri individu. Suicide ideation merupakan langkah awal untuk melihat perilaku dan niat bunuh diri maupun risiko bunuh diri di kemudian hari. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh loneliness dan Family Communication terhadap suicide ideation pada dewasa awal. Melalui teknik accidental sampling, diperoleh sebanyak 334 responden dewasa awal. Alat ukur yang digunakan adalah UCLA Loneliness (Versi 3), Family Communication Scale, dan Scale For Suicide Ideation. Data dianalisis menggunakan uji regresi linier berganda. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa loneliness berpengaruh positif terhadap suicide ideation (Sig. 0.003<0.05). Artinya, jika loneliness meningkat maka suicide ideation juga meningkat. Family Communication berpengaruh negatif terhadap suicide ideation dengan nilai (Sig. 0.000<0.05). yang berarti jika Family Communication meningkat maka suicide ideation menurun. Lebih lanjut, secara simultan, loneliness dan Family Communication berpengaruh secara signifikan terhadap suicide ideation (Sig. 0.000<0.05).
