Abstract
This study aims to obtain an overview of stress coping in mothers who have children under five with a diagnosis of spectrum disorder. Coping stress is a self-defense mechanism when facing problems that are considered a burden or exceed limits and this ability depends on the individual's external and internal conditions. This research uses qualitative methods with phenomenological studies. The sampling technique used a purposive sample with a total of 3 subjects, mothers who had spectrum disorder children. The research results showed that the three research subjects coped with stress either through problem focused coping or emotional focused coping, but not all mothers used the same stress coping strategy. The three subjects seemed to do more forms of coping with stress in the form of planful problem solving, confrontative coping, accepting responsibility, and escaping. This happens because the therapist's research is based on children who are undergoing therapy, so the results of coping with stress are based on finding a place for therapy, delivering therapy, and working on a home therapy program.
