Abstract
Music has become a cultural medium as a form of construction of social phenomena expressed through song lyrics. The focus of this reception analysis is how different audiences interpret media content so that they take the perspective of the audience rather than the media itself. This research aims to determine the audience's interpretation of the quarter-life crisis in interpreting the lyrics of the song "Takut" by Idgitaf. In this research, researchers used the encoding-decoding theory coined by Stuart Hall using a qualitative approach. In addition, this research uses a reception analysis method with data collection techniques through focus discussion groups. The results of this research show that all informants are in the Dominant Hegemonic Position in interpreting in the context of a quarter-life crisis the lyrics of the song "Takut" by Idgitaf. This research found that there is the existence of mental health, self-compassion, identity exploration, the age of possibilities, and self-esteem as further meanings of the lyrics of the song "Takut" by Idgitaf. Then for the Negotiated Position and Oppositional Position, there were no informants in them. Keywords: Interpretation, Audience, Song Lyrics, Quarter Life Crisis Musik telah menjadi media budaya sebagai bentuk konstruksi dari adanya fenomena sosial yang diekspresikan melalui lirik lagu. Fokus analisis resepsi ini adalah bagaimana audiens yang berbeda-beda memaknai isi media sehingga lebih mengambil perspektif pada audiens daripada media itu sendiri. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui interpretasi khalayak tentang krisis seperempat hidup (quarter life crisis) dalam memaknai lirik lagu “Takut” karya Idgitaf. Dalam penelitian ini, peneliti menggunakan teori Encoding-Decoding yang dicetuskan oleh Stuart Hall dengan pendekatan kualitatif. Selain itu, penelitian ini menggunakan metode analisis resepsi dengan teknik pengumpulan data melalui grup diskusi fokus. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa seluruh informan berada pada posisi Dominant Hegemonic Position dalam menginterpretasikan dalam konteks krisis seperempat hidup terhadap lirik lagu “Takut” karya Idgitaf. Penelitian ini menemukan bahwa terdapat keberadaan kesehatan mental, self-compassion, identity exploration, the age of possibilities, dan self-esteem sebagai pemaknaan lanjutan dari lirik lagu “Takut” karya Idgitaf. Kemudian untuk Negotiated Position dan Oppositional Position, tidak ada informan yang berada di dalamnya. Kata Kunci: Interpretasi, Khalayak, Lirik Lagu, Krisis Seperempat Hidup
