Abstract

Studi ini berangkat dari salah satu isu utama dalam dunia kerja yang ada saat ini yang dimana terdapat data statistik yang menunjukkan rendahnya tingkat keterlibatan pekerja atau work engagement. Rendahnya tingkat keterlibatan kerja di Indonesia ini dapat berpengaruh negatif terhadap produktivitas, performa dan keberlanjutan tenaga kerja. Penelitian ini bertujuan ingin mengeksplorasi hubungan emotional intelligence dengan work engagement melalui peran career competencies sebagai mediator. Kemudian, penelitian ini menerapkan analisis regresi mediasi dari data yang terkumpul sebanyak 697 pekerja di Indonesia. Analisis data dilakukan menggunakan prosedur PROCESS V.40 untuk SPSS, yang memungkinkan evaluasi menyeluruh terhadap hubungan mediasi yang dihipotesiskan. Studi ini menggunakan alat ukur yang telah diadaptasi untuk mengukur emotional intelligence, work engagement, dan career competencies. Adapun hasil penelitian di dapatkan bahwa nilai pada jalur ab lebih besar dibanding nilai jalur c’ dimana menandakan bahwa hubungan antara emotional intelligence dengan work engagement lebih kuat jika dimediasi oleh career competencies dibandingkan hubungan langsung antara emotional intelligence dengan work engagement. Maka dapat disimpulkan bahwa pekerja yang memiliki kecerdasan emosional dan kompetensi karir yang tinggi cenderung memiliki keterlibatan kerja yang lebih baik. Selain itu, kecerdasan emosional yang tinggi akan lebih efektif meningkatkan keterlibatan kerja apabila didukung dengan kompetensi karir yang memadai. This study stems from one of the main issues in the current workplace, where there are statistics showing low levels of work engagement. This low level of work engagement in Indonesia can negatively affect the productivity, performance and sustainability of the workforce. This study aims to explore the relationship between emotional intelligence and work engagement through the role of career competencies as a mediator. Then, this study applied mediation regression analysis from the collected data of 697 workers in Indonesia. Data analysis was conducted using the PROCESS V.40 procedure for SPSS, which allows a thorough evaluation of the hypothesized mediating relationship. The study used adapted measurement tools to measure emotional intelligence, work engagement, and career competencies. The results showed that the value of path ab is greater than the value of path c' which indicates that the relationship between emotional intelligence and work engagement is stronger when mediated by career competencies than the direct relationship between emotional intelligence and work engagement. So it can be concluded that workers who have high emotional intelligence and career competencies tend to have better work engagement. In addition, high emotional intelligence will more effectively increase work engagement if supported by adequate career competencies.
