Abstract

In the current era of technological advancement, companies are increasingly reliant on computer networks. Intensive internet usage during working hours presents challenges in managing bandwidth efficiently. Uncontrolled activities such as accessing social media, playing online games, and streaming videos can degrade network quality, disrupt productivity, and cause service dissatisfaction. This research aims to improve network usage efficiency in companies by focusing on reducing bandwidth due to uncontrolled internet usage, particularly by identifying and blocking access to websites unrelated to work activities using a Firewall on MikroTik routers. About 45% of employees frequently visit other sites during working hours. The system development was carried out using the Network Development Life Cycle (NDLC) method, which describes a continuous cycle of computer network development. The results of testing in this research used the BlackBox method with Winbox software to evaluate the performance of the planned system, successfully blocking websites, online games, and increasing bandwidth. After implementation, the bandwidth obtained was above 50Mbps during working hours. This method is expected to provide an effective solution to enhance network quality, optimize bandwidth usage, and support overall company productivity. Keywords: Mikrotik Router, Firewall, Layer 7 Procotol, Bandwidth, NDLC Di era kemajuan teknologi saat ini, ketergantungan perusahaan pada jaringan komputer semakin besar. Penggunaan internet yang intensif selama jam kerja menimbulkan tantangan dalam mengelola bandwidth secara efisien. Aktivitas yang tidak terkendali seperti mengakses media sosial, bermain game online, dan streaming video dapat menurunkan kualitas jaringan, mengganggu produktivitas, dan menimbulkan ketidakpuasan layanan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan efisiensi penggunaan jaringan di perusahaan dengan memfokuskan pada penurunan bandwidth akibat penggunaan internet yang tidak terkontrol, terutama dengan mengidentifikasi dan memblokir akses ke situs web yang tidak berkaitan dengan aktivitas kerja menggunakan Firewall pada router MikroTik. Sekitar 45% karyawan sering membuka situs lain selama jam kerja. Pengembangan sistem dilakukan dengan metode Network Development Life Cycle (NDLC), yang menggambarkan siklus pembangunan jaringan komputer secara berkelanjutan. Hasil pada pengujian di penelitian menggunakan metode BlackBox dengan perangkat lunak Winbox untuk menilai kinerja sistem yang direncanakan dengan hasil berhasil memblokir situs, game online dan meningkatnya bandwidth, sesudah dilakukannya implementasi Bandwidth yang di dapatkan diatas 50Mbps pada saat jam kerja. Metode ini diharapkan dapat memberikan solusi efektif untuk meningkatkan kualitas jaringan, mengoptimalkan penggunaan bandwidth, dan mendukung produktivitas perusahaan secara keseluruhan.
