Abstract

The existence of a campus and its activities have a spatial impact on the surrounding environment. The presence of the Mercu Buana University campus in 1985 in the neighborhood of the southern meruya community who had lived or settled first. Along with developing and increasing campus activities triggered high demand for service activities. As the host who owns the land around the campus, the surrounding community initially rents out vacant land and semi-permanent space as business space. Since the opening of the campus until now, in addition to renting out space or land. The surrounding community also utilizes space in their homes as a business space to fulfill the needs of campus activities. Without clear or strict supervision and regulation regarding the use of space in residential houses around the campus, changes and additional functions of this space can develop in a wild and uncontrolled direction. The purpose of this study was to determine the pattern of utilization and addition of space in addition to its function as a residence around the campus of Mercu Buana University, Meruya Selatan, Jakarta. This study also intends to find out the types and levels of changes that occur. The research method used is descriptive-qualitative. This method is only used to describe the analysis of research results without making conclusions broadly (Sugiyono, 2005). Retrieval of research data using methods of observation, interviews and documentation.The results of this study indicate that the changes that occur are the addition of space and new buildings in residential houses around the campus. In dwellings that have limited land, additional space tends to move upwards in the form of additional floors and changes in wall, floor and ceiling elements. In homes that have more land left over, the expansion and addition of space functions are horizontally. There are houses that experience additional functions but do not make changes to the physical limits of their homes. Keberadaan suatu kampus dan aktivitasnya memberikan dampak secara spasial pada lingkungan di sekitarnya. Hadirnya kampus Universitas Mercu Buana pada tahun 1985 dalam lingkungan masyarakat meruya selatan yang telah tinggal atau bermukim terlebih dahulu. Seiring dengan berkembang dan meningkatnya aktivitas kampus memicu tingginya permintaan pelayanan aktivitas tersebut. Sebagai tuan rumah yang memiliki lahan di sekitar kampus, masyarakat sekitar awalnya menyewakan lahan kosong dan ruang semi permanen sebagai ruang usaha. Sejak dibukanya kampus hingga kini, selain menyewakan ruang atau lahan. Masyarakat sekitar juga memanfaatkan ruang pada rumah mereka sebegai ruang usaha pemenuh kebutuhan pelayanan aktivitas kampus. Tanpa adanya pengawasan dan peraturan yang jelas atau ketat mengenai penggunaan ruang pada rumah tinggal di sekitar kampus, perubahan dan penambahan fungsi ruang ini bisa berkembang ke arah liar dan tak terkendali. Tujuan penelitian ini dimaskudkan untuk mengetahui pola pemanfaatan dan penambahan ruang selain fungsinya sebagai rumah tinggal di sekitar kampus Universitas Mercu Buana, Meruya selatan, Jakarta. Penelitian ini juga bermaksud untuk mengetahui jenis dan tingkatan perubahan yang terjadi. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah deskriptif-kualitatif. Metode ini hanya digunakan untuk menggambarkan analisa hasil penelitian tanpa membuat kesimpulan secara luas (sugiyono, 2005). Pengambilan data penelitian menggunakan metode observasi, interview dan dokumentasi.Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa perubahan yang terjadi adalah penambahan ruang – ruang dan bangunan baru pada rumah tinggal di sekitar kampus. Pada rumah tinggal yang memiliki keterbatasan lahan, penambahan ruang cenderung bergerak ke arah atas berupa penambahan lantai dan perubahan elemen dinding, lantai dan plafond. Pada rumah yang memiliki sisa lahan yang lebih banyak, perluasan dan penambahan fungsi ruang bergerak secara horizontal. Terdapat rumah tinggal yang mengalami penambahan fungsi namun tidak melakukan perubahan pada batasan fisik rumah tinggal mereka.
