Abstract

In-depth ongoing research has explained that a person’s Grit is influenced by consistency of interest and persistence. However, not many have examined whether other factors contribute to increasing Grit. The purpose of this study was to see the effect of Playfulness personality and Playful Work Design on Grit in early childhood teachers. The sample used in this study is 117 people who work as early childhood teachers. Data collection was carried out in the form of distributing questionnaires to respondents to measure the level of Playfulness, Playful Work Design, and Grit in early childhood teachers online through G-form. To measure Grit, we used the Indonesian version of the Teacher Grit Scale (TGS), and then to measure the level of Playfulness, we used the Indonesian version of Adult Playfulness Trait Scale (APTS), and we used the Indonesian version of Playful Work Design (PWD) scale was used to measures the level of Playful Work Design. Statistical analysis using multiple linear regression techniques using SPSS IBM version 25 for Windows. The findings show a Playfulness personality and Playful Work Design simultaneously predict Grit in early childhood teachers. Playfulness and Playful Work Design provide an influence on Grit by 29,8%, while the other influence of 70,2% comes from other factors not examined in this research. The results of this research show that a playful personality alone is not enough, but must be accompanied by cognitive abilities to design oneself and the environment to be playful, in order to significantly influence early childhood teacher grit. Keywords: grit, playfulness, playful work design, early childhood teacher Penelitian mendalam yang sedang berlangsung telah menjelaskan bahwa Grit seseorang dipengaruhi oleh konsistensi minat dan ketekunan. Namun, belum banyak yang meneliti apakah ada faktor lain yang turut berkontribusi dalam meningkatkan Grit. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk melihat pengaruh kepribadian Playfulness dan Playful Work Design terhadap Grit pada guru PAUD. Sampel yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah 117 orang yang berprofesi sebagai guru anak usia dini. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dalam bentuk penyebaran kuesioner kepada responden untuk mengukur tingkat Playfulness, Playful Work Design, dan Grit pada guru PAUD secara online melalui G-form. Untuk mengukur Grit digunakan Teacher Grit Scale (TGS) versi Indonesia, kemudian untuk mengukur tingkat Playfulness digunakan Adult Playfulness Trait Scale (APTS) versi Indonesia, dan untuk mengukur tingkat Playful Work Design digunakan skala Playful Work Design (PWD) versi Indonesia. Analisis statistik menggunakan teknik regresi linier berganda dengan menggunakan SPSS IBM versi 25 for Windows. Temuan menunjukkan kepribadian Playfulness dan Playful Work Design secara simultan memprediksi Grit pada guru anak usia dini. Kepribadian Playfulness dan Playful Work Design memberikan pengaruh terhadap Grit sebesar 29,8%, sedangkan pengaruh lainnya sebesar 70,2% berasal dari faktor lain yang tidak diteliti dalam penelitian ini. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa kepribadian yang Playful saja tidak cukup, tetapi harus disertai dengan kemampuan kognitif untuk mendesain diri sendiri dan lingkungan menjadi Playful, agar dapat berpengaruh secara signifikan terhadap Grit pada guru PAUD.
