Abstract

Etu is a traditional boxing ceremony that tests the manhood of young men in Nagekeo, Flores, East Nusa Tenggara. Etu means "ordinary boxing" in the local language. Etu or traditional boxing is different from professional boxing which competes in the same ring. In traditional boxing, fighters use boxing gloves made of rope woven with palm fiber. Fighters are only allowed to use the bat with one hand to attack the opponent while the other hand is only used to parry. In addition, the Etu performance is a post-harvest ritual performed by the people of Nagekeo district, East Nusa Tenggara. This research was conducted with the aim of promoting Etu Culture to the wider community as a ritual that is the local wisdom of the people of Ngagekeo Regency. Data sources were compiled from literature studies, previous research, field observations, interviews, and documentation. The results achieved in this study will be summarized in a printed media book containing photographic visuals of human activities in the ETU traditional ceremony as well as a story narrative that explains what the photographic visuals show. Keywords: Etu Tradition Story Photography Book Design Etu adalah upacara tradisional tinju yang menguji kejantanan para pemuda di Nagekeo, Flores, Nusa Tenggara Timur. Etu berarti "tinju biasa" dalam bahasa setempat. Etu atau tinju tradisional berbeda dengan tinju profesional yang bertanding di ring yang sama. Dalam tinju tradisional petarung menggunakan sarung tinju yang terbuat dari tali yang dijalin dengan ijuk. Petarung hanya diperbolehkan menggunakan pemukul dengan satu tangan untuk menyerang lawan sedangkan tangan lainnya hanya digunakan untuk menangkis. Selain itu pergelaran Etu Merupakan ritual pasca panen yang dilakukan oleh masyarakat kabupaten Nagekeo Nusa Tenggara Timur. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan tujuan untuk mempromosikan Budaya Etu Kepada Masyaraka Luas sebagai ritual yang menjadi kearifan lokal dari masyarakat Kabupaten Ngagekeo. Sumber data disusun Studi Pustaka, Penelitian terdahulu, pengamatan lapangan, Wawancara, Dan Dokumentasi. Hasil yang di capai dalam penelitian ini akan di rangkum dalam sebuah media cetak buku yang berisivisual fotografi aktivitas manusia dalam upacara adat ETU serta narasi cerita yang menjelaskan mengenai apa yang dengan visual fotografi yang di tampilkan.
