Abstract

Indonesia adalah salah satu negara di dunia yang multikultural. Daerah yang satu dan lainnya memiliki ciri dan kesenian tersendiri. Kesenian merupakan hasil karya manusia yang penuh dengan nilai keindahan dan kebudayaan. Di antara unsur seni adalah kain Ulos yang merupakan kain tenun khas suku Batak. Tak dapat dipungkiri bahwa akhir-akhir ini pesona Ulos semakin menurun seirama dengan semakin menipisnya perhatian generasi muda akan pentingnya Ulos. Perancangan yang dibuat bertujuan untuk memperkenalkan ragam motif Ulos Sadum Batak kepada masyarakat dengan melahirkan kembali beragam motif, bentuk dan warna melalui cara menerapkan motif Ulos ini kedalam desain produk yang dapat digunakan pada kehidupan sehari-hari. Produk fashion adalah salah satu media yang dapat digunakan sebagai media promosi ragam motif Ulos Sadum Batak, salah satu produk fashion yang tidak bisa dipisahkan dari wanita adalah tas. Contohnya tote bag dan pouch, kini hampir setiap orang menggunakan tas jenis ini. Tas dengan desain ragam motif Ulos Sadum Batak Toba menjadi salah satu gaya desain baru pada produk fashion dengan tujuan agar terciptanya inovasi baru dalam sebuah desain produk supaya lebih bernilai dan memiliki keunikan sendiri sehingga sebuah produk dipasarkan tidak hanya pada penerapan fungsinya saja, tapi juga memiliki estetika nilai desain yang lebih kreatif dan unik.Indonesia is one country in the world that is multicultural. One area and another has its own characteristics and art. Art is the work of human beings full of beauty and cultural values. Among the elements of art, there is woven so called Ulos, which is a woven of the Batak tribe. It is undeniable that lately the charm of Ulos is declining with the decreasing of interest from the younger generation about the importance of Ulos. The product aim to introduce various motifs of Ulos Sadum Batak to the community by regenerating various motifs, shapes and colors by applying Ulos motifs into product design that can be used in everyday life. Fashion product is one that can be used as a media promotion motif Ulos Sadum Batak, one of the fashion products that can not be separated from women is a bag. For example tote bag and pouch, now almost everyone uses this type of bag. Bags with motifs Ulos Sadum Batak Toba as design become one of the new style in fashion products with aim to create new innovations in a product design to be more valuable and has its own uniqueness so that a product is marketed not only on the application of its function, but also has more creative and unique design values.
