Abstract

Toraja carving motifs are carvings that are usually found in Toraja traditional houses as a form of symbolism and certain symbols, this is one of Indonesia's cultural assets that must be preserved, because these motifs have meanings and meanings that describe identities, customs, beliefs, and ancestral heritage. Each Toraja carving motif has different characteristics that appear from the diversity of ornaments. In general, people are more familiar with Toraja carving motifs on batik or weaving, so the uniqueness of these carving motifs in fact does not make people familiar with these motifs, especially people on the island of Java. Based on this, this research is intended to find other alternatives, namely the macrame node technique in preserving cultural heritage. So that it can provide new insights to the community and students in particular. On this occasion, the clutch became the application media of the Toraja motif using this macrame knot. After searching for data and information, basically there is no precise definition of clutch. Although there are some people who think it is too practical and small, but this is not just a handbag but an accessory, jewelry that can support the appearance other than can be filled with credit or debit cards, lipsticks, cellphones, usually used on formal occasions. Keywords: Clutch, Toraja, Macrame Motif ukiran Toraja merupakan ukiran yang biasanya terdapat pada rumah adat Toraja sebagai bentuk perlambangan dan simbol-simbol tertentu, ini merupakan salah satu kekayaan budaya dari Indonesia yang harus dilestarikan, karena motif tersebut memiliki arti dan makna yang menggambarkan identitas, adat istiadat, kepercayaan, dan tradisi warisan leluhur. Setiap motif ukiran Toraja memiliki ciri khas berbeda yang tampak dari keanekaragaman ornamennya. Pada umumnya masyarakat lebih mengenal motif ukiran Toraja pada batik atau tenun, jadi keunikan dari motif ukiran ini saja ternyata tidak membuat masyarakat familiar dengan motif tersebut khususnya masyarakat di pulau Jawa. Berdasarkan hal tersebut, pelaporan ini dimaksudkan untuk mencari alternatif lain, yaitu teknik simpul makrame dalam melestarikan warisan budaya. Sehingga dapat memberikan wawasan baru kepada masyarakat dan mahasiswa khususnya. Pada kesempatan ini, clutch menjadi media pengaplikasian dari motif Toraja yang menggunakan simpul makrame ini. Setelah mencari-cari data dan informasi, pada dasarnya tidak ada definisi yang tepat mengenai clutch. Walaupun ada beberapa orang yang berpendapat terlalu praktis dan kecil, namun ini bukan sekedar tas tangan melainkan sebuah aksesoris, perhiasan yang dapat menunjang penampilan selain dapat diisi dengan kartu kredit/debit, lipstik, handphone, biasanya digunakan pada acara-acara resmi.
