Abstract

Perancangan Typeface ini dibuat agar dapat mejadi solusi alternatif untuk mengatasi krisis identitas budaya atau mewakili sebuah daerah dengan bentuk budaya yang menjadi karakteristik dari typeface tersebut. Oleh karena itu diperlukan inovasi bentuk budaya yang dapat menjadi karakteristik dan menimbulkan persepsi bagi masyarakat. Golok Betawi merupakan senjata khas Betawi yang memiliki bentuk yang baik untuk ditransformasikan menjadi bentuk anatomi huruf. Tujuan pembuatan typeface ini untuk merancang typeface yang lebih berkarakter. Konsep typeface yang di buat oleh penulis yaitu membuat typeface baru dengan mengembangkan typeface Bodoni sebagai acuan dan mengusung Golok Betawi sebagai bentuk dasar huruf untuk melestarikan identitas masyarakat Betawi melalui ranah tipografi. Bodoni dipilih sebagai huruf acuan, karena memiliki kontras yang tinggi sehingga sangat cocok dengan gaya tulisan tangan (hand writing flow), sedangkan bentuk-bentuk dari Golok Betawi tersebut ditransformasi menjadi bentuk-bentuk dasar huruf. Pada umumnya typeface bermuatan unsur budaya termasuk dalam golongan display type atau dekoratif dikarenakan tidak semua bentuk budaya dapat ditransformasi menjadi anatomi huruf dengan sempurna seperti text type yang memiliki legibility dan readability yang baik. Perancangan typeface ini diharapkan dapat menjadi warisan budaya Betawi dan masyarakat Betawi memiliki referensi budaya karya seni tipografi, typeface ini di aplikasikan ke dalam beberapa bentuk media pendukung yaitu T-shirt, Mug, Sticker dan Desain Layout. Dengan target yang telah ditentukan yaitu masyarakat umum terutama masyarakat Betawi yang membutuhkan identitas visual ketika terlibat dalam suatu acara. Karya typeface ini di pamerkan dalam pameran Tugas Akhir Desain Komunikasi Visual Universitas Mercubuana yang memberikan respon positif terhadap karya yang dibuat penulis.The design of the Typeface is made so that it can become an alternative solution to overcome the crisis of cultural identity or represents a region with the shape of a culture that became characteristic of the typeface. It is therefore necessary for innovation that can be a form of cultural characteristics and give rise to the perception of the community. Golok Betawi is the typical weapon of the Betawi that has a good shape for the shape of the transformed into the anatomy of the letters. The purpose of the creation of this typeface to design a typeface with more character. The concept of a typeface that is made by the author that is creating a new typeface from Bodoni typeface developed as a reference and carrying a Golok Betawi as basic form letter to preserve Betawi community identity through the realm of typography. Bodoni was chosen as the letter of reference, because it has a high contrast so that it fits perfectly with the style of handwriting (hand writing flow), while the forms of the Golok Betawi are transformed into basic shapes of the letters. In General typeface charged cultural elements are included in the display type or decorative because not all forms of culture may be transformed into the anatomy of letters with perfect as text type that has a good legibility and readability. The design of the typeface is expected to be a Rare cultural heritage and indigenous Betawi culture references has works of art of typography, typeface is applied into some form of promotion media T-shirt, Mug, Sticker and Design Layout. With the specified target the general public especially Betawi community who need visual identity when involved in an event. The work of this typeface in a showcase in the exhibitions of Visual communication design final project Mercubuana University which gives a positive response to the works that made the writer
