Abstract

Film is part of mass media communication which is audio-visual and aims to convey certain social or moral messages to the audience. This film was shown in cinemas in 2019 and the film Perempuan Tanah Jahanam, after being shown in cinemas, this film was shown on the Netflix platform. This film is considered a form of representation of cultural mythology with the myth about babies born without skin due to a pact with black magic. Therefore, this research aims to understand how the cultural mythology is displayed in the film. Film are analyzed through the scientific lens of Roland Barthes' semiotics, known for his denotation, connotation and myth devices. The signs in the film will be examined to obtain the meaning of the message and dismantle the myths behind the ideology contained. This research uses a constructivist paradigm. The results of Roland Barthes' semiotic audio-visual analysis found 6 scenes in the film Perempuan Tanah Jahanam which showed dialogue and scenes containing elements of Javanese cultural mythology. the first is belief, in mantras, offering rituals and the third is worship rituals. From the results of the analysis, the denotation found in this film uses a lot of Medium Shot, Medium Close Up and Close Up techniques, while the coloring of each scene in this film is dominated by orange. Keywords: Mythology, Culture, Film, Semiotics Film merupakan bagian dari komunikasi media massa yang bersifat audiovisual dan bertujuan untuk menyampaikan pesan sosial atau moral tertentu kepada penontonnya. Film ini tayang pada tahun 2019 di bioskop dan film Perempuan Tanah Jahanam setelah tayang di bioskop film ini tayang di platform Netflix. Film ini dianggap bentuk representasi mitologi budaya dengan adanya mitos tentang bayi yang lahir tanpa kulit akibat perjanjian dengan ilmu hitam. Maka dari itu penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memaknai bagaimana mitologi budaya yang ditampilkan dalam film tersebut. Film dianalisis melalui kacamata ilmiah semotika dari Roland Barthes, yang dikenal dengan perangkat denotasi, konotasi, dan mitosnya. Tanda-tanda dalam film akan diteliti untuk memperoleh makna pesan dan membongkar mitos dibalik ideologi yang terkandung. Penelitian ini menggunakan paradigma konstruktivis. Hasil dari analisis audio-visual semiotika Roland Barthes ditemukan 6 adegan film Perempuan Tanah Jahanam yang menunjukkan adanya dialog serta adegan yang mengandung unsur mitologi budaya jawa. pertama kepercayaan, terhadap mantra, ritual sesajen dan yang ketiga adalah ritual pemujaan. dari hasil analisis yang ditemukan secara denotasi pada film ini banyak menggunakan teknik Medium Shot, Medium Close Up, dan Close Up, adapun dari pewarnaan pada setiap adegan dalam film ini didominasi dengan warna orange.
