Abstract

UKM Paduan Suara Mahasiswa Universitas Mercu Buana (PSM UMB)/Student Choir Mercu Buana University is a choir group that accommodates students and alumni of Universitas Mercu Buana (UMB). UMB Choir was formed on October 23, 1988. The purpose of this research is to find out the communication management process of the board that occurs in the UMB Choir organization. Literature Review consists of 5 previous studies with 1 international journal. The theoretical review consists of communication, communication management, understanding of management, management in communication, key concepts of communication management, organizational communication, management in organizations, and Michael Kaye's Russian Doll Theory which includes 4 aspects, namely, self-management, interpersonal, people-in-system, and competence. The paradigm used in this research is constructivism through a descriptive qualitative research approach with data collection techniques through in-depth interviews and observations. In this study, researchers interviewed informants consisting of 4 administrators of the UMB PSM organization along with documentation. Using data validity techniques triangulation method. The results showed that there are various strategies and approaches applied by the UMB Choir board to ensure effective and harmonious communication among members. Concrete steps such as engaging in the discussion process, understanding individual needs, awareness of the desire to change, and an open attitude towards learning are key in developing self-control in communication situations. From the results of the research conducted on the communication management process in UMB Choir, the researcher can conclude that communication management plays an important role in forming harmonious and effective relationships between the board and active members. Various aspects such as self-management, interpersonal skills, organizational culture, and individual competence affect the dynamics of communication in the organization. Keywords: Communication Management, Russian Doll Theory (Matouschka Dolls), Student Choir UKM Paduan Suara Mahasiswa Universitas Mercu Buana (PSM UMB) merupakan kelompok paduan suara yang mewadahi mahasiswa/i dan alumni Universitas Mercu Buana (UMB). PSM UMB terbentuk pada tanggal 23 Oktober 1988. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui proses manajemen komunikasi pengurus yang terjadi di organisasi PSM UMB. Tinjauan Pustaka terdiri dari 5 penelitian terdahulu dengan 1 jurnal internasional. Kajian Teoritis terdiri dari komunikasi, manajemen komunikasi, pengertian pada manajemen, manajemen dalam komunikasi, konsep kunci manajemen komunikasi, komunikasi organisasi, manajemen dalam organisasi, dan Teori Boneka Rusia dari Michael Kaye yang meliputi 4 aspek yaitu, selfmanagement, interpersonal, people-in-system, dan competence. Paradigma yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah konstruktivisme melalui pendekatan penelitian kualitatif yang bersifat deskriptif dengan teknik pengumpulan data melalui wawancara mendalam dan observasi. Dalam penelitian ini peneliti mewawancarai informan-informan yang terdiri dari 4 pengurus organisasi PSM UMB beserta dokumentasi. Menggunakan teknik keabsahan data triangulasi metode. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat beragam strategi dan pendekatan yang diterapkan oleh pengurus PSM UMB untuk memastikan komunikasi yang efektif dan harmonis di antara anggota. Langkah-langkah konkrit seperti terlibat dalam proses diskusi, pemahaman terhadap kebutuhan individu, kesadaran akan keinginan untuk berubah, dan sikap terbuka terhadap pembelajaran menjadi kunci dalam pengembangan pengendalian diri dalam situasi komunikasi. Dari hasil penelitian yang dilakukan terhadap proses manajemen komunikasi di PSM UMB, peneliti dapat menyimpulkan bahwa manajemen komunikasi memainkan peran penting dalam membentuk hubungan yang harmonis dan efektif antara pengurus dan anggota aktif. Berbagai aspek seperti self-management, interpersonal skills, budaya organisasi, dan kompetensi individu memengaruhi dinamika komunikasi dalam organisasi tersebut.
