Abstract

The interview video "Empty Chair" with the title #MataNajwaMenantiTerawan is trending on the YouTube channel, occupying position 10 and has been watched by more than 2 million viewers. Via the YouTube channel, Najwa Shihab uploaded a video of an empty chair interview or monologue, as if she was dealing with Minister Terawan in asking about the development and handling of Covid-19 in Indonesia. The viral video of empty chairs in the community raised public opinion and had an impact on Terawan's political image. The aim of this research is to find out and analyze the signs and meanings behind the empty chair interview video conducted by Najwa Shihab and to understand the construction of the political image of minister Terawan Agus Putranto in the empty chair interview video conducted by Najwa Shihab. This research uses a qualitative approach, constructivist paradigm, with Ferdinand De Saussure's semiotic analysis method, where signs are composed of two elements, namely the signifier and the signified, namely aspects of the image of sound (such as words or visual representations) and concepts, where a sound image is made aware. The unit of analysis in this research is Najwa Shihab's "empty chair" interview video on her YouTube channel with the title #MataNajwaMenantiTerawan. Data analysis techniques are carried out through selection, classification, analysis, interpretation and conclusions. Based on the results of research, the signs and meaning of the empty chair interview conducted by Najwa Shihab in the Mata Najwa program have meaning as a form of Najwa's protest to Terawan. Apart from that, the empty chair interview conducted by Najwa Shihab also represents that the position of Minister of Health of the Republic of Indonesia is not running as it should, where the chair that Terawan should have occupied or the position and responsibilities that should have been carried out are not being carried out properly, this represents that Terawan is not carrying out his duties as Minister of Health. Melalui kanal Youtube, Najwa Shihab mengunggah video wawancara kursi kosong atau monolog, seolah-olah sedang berhadapan dengan menteri Terawan dalam menanyakan perkembangan dan penanganan Covid-19 di Indonesia. Viralnya video kursi kosong di masyarakat menimbulkan opini publik, dan berpengaruh pada citra politik Terawan. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui dan menganalisis tanda dan makna dibalik video wawancara kursi kosong yang dilakukan Najwa Shihab serta mengetahui konstruksi citra politik menteri Terawan Agus Putranto dalam video wawancara kursi kosong yang dilakukan Najwa Shihab. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif, paradigma konstruktivis, dengan metode analisis semiotika Ferdinand De Saussure, dimana tanda disusun dari dua elemen, yakni penanda (signifier) dan petanda (signified) yaitu aspek citra tentang bunyi (seperti kata atau representasi visual) dan konsep, dimana sebuah citra bunyi disadarkan. Unit analisis dalam penelitian ini adalah video wawancara “kursi kosong” Najwa Shihab di kanal Youtubenya dengan judul #MataNajwaMenantiTerawan. Teknik Analisis data dilakukan melalui seleksi, klasifikasi, analisis, interpretasi dan kesimpulan. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian tanda dan makna wawancara kursi kosong yang dilakukan Najwa Shihab di program Mata Najwa memiliki makna sebagai bentuk protes Najwa kepada Terawan. Selain itu wawancara kursi kosong yang dilakukan Najwa Shihab juga merepresentasikan jabatan Menteri Kesehatan Republik Indonesia tidak berjalan sebagaimana mestinya, dimana kursi yang seharusnya diduduki Terawan atau jabatan dan tanggung jawab yang seharusnya di emban tidak dilakukan dengan baik, hal ini merepresentasikan bahwa Terawan tidak menjalankan tugasnya sebagai menteri kesehatan.
