Abstract
The offshore platform installation pipes include ASTM A106 Grade B carbon steel metal material and ASTM A316L Stainless Steel metal material. The corrosive marine environment is a serious problem where damage due to corrosion can cause several accidents such as damage to structures, pipe failure, leaks, and other accidents. After the corrosion rate test was carried out using the electrochemical method with potentiodynamic polarization testing, the corrosion rate results showed that the corrosion rate values for the two materials before and after being treated with immersion in sea water for 96 hours had increased. The initial average corrosion rate value of 0.032651 mmpy for ASTM A106 Grade B carbon steel material has increased to 2.206175 mmpy. Meanwhile, the ASTM A316L Stainless Steel material, which originally had an average corrosion rate of 0.006197 mmpy, has increased to 0.212973 mmpy. Morphological tests showed that there were changes in the surface structure of the two materials before and after being soaked in sea water for 96 hours. What initially looked like black dots or small holes changed into larger holes that spread across the surface. And after testing the hardness of the materials using the Vickers method, the results showed that the hardness values of the two materials before and after being soaked in sea water for 96 hours experienced a decrease in hardness values. which originally had a hardness value of 214.6HV3 for ASTM A106 Grade B carbon steel metal material, the hardness value decreased to 171.3HV3. Likewise, with ASTM A316L Stainless Steel metal pipes, which originally had an average hardness value of 198HV3, the hardness decreased to 187HV3. The conclusion is that the longer the immersion treatment, the higher the corrosion rate value that occurs, the changes in surface structure will be greater and more widespread, and the material hardness value will decrease. Keywords: Corrosion rate analysis, Electrochemical, Vickers Test Pada pipa instalasi anjungan lepas pantai di antaranya menggunakan material logam baja karbon ASTM A106 Grade B dan material logam Stainless Steel ASTM A316L. Lingkungan laut yang korosif menjadi permasalahan serius dimana kerusakan akibat korosi dapat menyebabkan beberapa kecelakaan seperti kerusakan pada struktur, kegagalan pipa, kebocoran, dan kecelakaan lainnya. Setelah dilakukan uji laju korosi menggunakan metode elektrokimia dengan pengujian polarisasi potensiodinamik didapatkan nilai hasil laju korosi yang menunjukkan bahwa nilai laju korosi kedua material sebelum dan setelah mendapat perlakuan perendaman di media air laut selama 96 jam mengalami kenaikan. Yang semula nilai rata-rata laju korosinya 0.032651 mmpy untuk material baja karbon ASTM A106 Grade B mengalami kenaikan menjadi 2.206175 mmpy. Sedangkan pada material Stainless Steel ASTM A316L yang semula nilai rata-rata laju korosinya 0,006197 mmpy mengalami kenaikan menjadi 0,212973 mmpy. Dari uji morfologi menunjukkan adanya perubahan pada struktur permukaan pada kedua material sebelum dan setelah mendapat perlakuan perendaman di media air laut selama 96 jam. Yang semula terlihat titik hitam atau lubang kecil mengalami perubahan menjadi lubang-lubang yang lebih besar dan menyebar di permukaannya. Dan setelah dilakukan uji kekerasan material dengan metode Vickers menunjukkan hasil bahwa nilai kekerasan kedua material sebelum dan setelah mendapat perlakuan perendaman di media air laut selama 96 jam mengalami penurunan nilai kekerasan. yang semula nilai kekerasannya sebesar 214,6HV3 untuk material logam baja karbon ASTM A106 Grade B nilai kekerasannya menurun menjadi 171,3HV3. Begitu juga dengan pipa logam material Stainless Steel ASTM A316L yang semula nilai rata-rata kekerasannya 198HV3 kekerasannya menurun menjadi 187HV3. Kesimpulannya yaitu semakin lama perlakuan perendaman maka akan semakin tinggi nilai laju korosi yang terjadi, perubahan struktur permukaan akan semakin besar dan menyebar, dan nilai kekerasan material akan semakin menurun.
