Abstract

Schizophrenia is a severe mental illness that affects thinking, perception, emotions and behaviour where the sufferer has difficulty distinguishing what is real and what is not. The existence of this thinking disorder makes the sufferer have abnormalities in behaving and speaking. Caring for a child with schizophrenia is not easy and it has experience a long journey for parents, especially for mother. The onset of the burden and some adverse effects on mother will certainly affect the process of care given and acceptance. This research was conducted to determine the process of acceptance, as well as what factors influence and inhibit the acceptance of each subject. The subjects used in this study amounted to 4 people, namely a biological mother who cares for and has a child with schizophrenia. This type of research used in this study is qualitative descriptive with study case approach, non-participatory observation techniques and in-depth interviews using interview guidelines. Data validation is done by source triangulation. The results showed that the process of acceptance four subjects through the phases of denial, anger, bargaining, and acceptance phase, although there were differences in certain phases. Factors influencing the acceptance of each subject were self-understanding, hope, absence of environment obstacles and religious. Keywords: Schizophrenia, Acceptance, Mother Skizofrenia merupakan penyakit gangguan mental berat yang mempengaruhi dalam hal berpikir, persepsi, emosi dan perilaku dimana penderitanya sulit membedakan mana yang nyata dan mana yang tidak. Adanya gangguan berfikir ini membuat penderitanya memiliki kelainan dalam bertingkah laku dan berbicara. Merawat anak dengan skizofrenia merupakan hal yang tidak mudah dan mengalami perjalanan yang panjang bagi orangtua terutama seorang ibu. Munculnya beban dan beberapa efek buruk bagi ibu sebagai pengasuh tentu akan mempengaruhi proses perawatan yang diberikan dan penerimaan. Penelitian ini di lakukan untuk mengetahui proses penerimaan, serta faktor apa saja yang mempengaruhi penerimaan masing – masing subjek. Subjek yang di gunakan dalam penelitian ini berjumlah 4 orang yaitu seorang Ibu kandung yang merawat dan memiliki anak skizofrenia. Jenis penelitian yang di gunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah kualitatif deskriptif dengan pendekatan studi kasus, tehnik observasi non partisipatif dan wawancara mendalam dengan menggunakan pedoman wawancara. Validasi data di lakukan dengan triangulasi sumber. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa proses penerimaan keempat subjek melalui fase penolakan, kemarahan, tawar-menawar, dan fase penerimaan, meskipun terdapat perbedaan pada fase-fase tertentu. faktor yang mempengaruhi penerimaan masing-masing subjek adalah pemahaman mengenai diri sendiri, harapan, tidak adanya hambatan dari lingkungan, dan religius.
