Abstract

As Korean-Pop fans, it is easy for them to identify themselves in society or among fans of other fandom communities with the characteristics of their fandom. Not a few Korean-Pop fans do this by joining the fandom community aggressive verbal and social identity will definitely emerge and greatly influence the character of community and fandom members, which makes them proud because they can defend their fandom community. The aim of this research is to find out whether there is a positive and significant relationship between social identity and aggressive verbal among Korean-Pop fans who are members of the fandom community. This research uses quantitative research, using techniques non-probability sampling and purposive sampling and using all Korean-Pop fans who are members of the fandom in early adulthood as research subjects, with a total sample of 354 respondents. The instrument in this research uses the Self Evaluation Scale measuring tool compiled by Luthanen and Crocker (1992) and modified by Suwarto & Moningka (2017), and verbal aggressiveness scale compiled by Infante & Wigley (1986) and modified by Bimantara (2018). The results of this research show that there is no strong and significant relationship between social identity and aggressive verbal to Korean-Pop fans who are members of the fandom community. Keywords: Sosial Identity, Aggressive Verbal, Fandom, Korean-Pop Sebagai penggemar Korean-Pop, mudah bagi mereka untuk mengidentifikasi diri ditengah masyarakat ataupun ditengah penggemar komunitas fandom lain dengan ciri khas fandom yang mereka miliki. Bergabung dalam komunitas fandom, tidak sedikit penggemar Korean-Pop yang melakukan aggressive verbal dan identitas sosial pasti akan muncul dan sangat berpengaruh pada karakter anggota komunitas dan fandom, dimana hal tersebut membuatnya bangga karena bisa membela komunitas fandom mereka. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui apakah ada hubungan yang positif dan signifikan antara identitas sosial dan aggressive verbal dikalangan penggemar Korean-Pop yang tergabung dalam komunitas fandom. Penelitian ini menggunakan penelitian kuantitatif, dengan menggunakan teknik non-probability sampling dan purposive sampling dan menggunakan seluruh penggemar Korean-Pop yang tergabung dalam fandom dengan usia dewasa awal sebagai subjek penelitian, dengan total sampel sejumlah 354 responden. Instrumen pada penelitain ini menggunakan alat ukur collective self-esteem scale yang disusun oleh Luthanen dan Crocker (1992) dan dimodifikasi oleh Suwarto & Moningka (2017), dan verbal aggressiveness scale yang disusun oleh Infante & Wigley (1986) dan dimodifikasi oleh Bimantara (2018). Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa tidak adanya hubungan yang kuat dan signifikan antara identitas sosial dengan aggressive verbal pada penggemar Korean-Pop yang tergabung dalam komunitas fandom.
