Abstract

Arabic Gum and Cellulose Acetate have been known to provide inhibitory properties in the cell electrochemical system. Especially in the acid medium (HCl). The study used aluminum metal 1100 (99%) as working electrodes immersed in HCl and NaOH solutions with varying concentrations (0.1M; 0.5M; 1M; 2M and 3M), SCE reference electrodes and Pt electrodes. This study obtained an inhibitory efficiency of 97.13% in acidic medium (HCl) and 95.79% in basic media (NaOH). This electrochemical test uses cyclic voltammetry method, test results in acidic (HCl) media did not show any peak osidation and peak reduction, whereas in alkaline media (NaOH) it was clear that there was oxidation peak in aluminum metal without coating inhibitor. Keywords: Aluminum, Arabic gum, Inhibitor, Corrosion, Cellulose acetate Arabic Gum dan Selulosa Asetat telah diketahui memberikan sifat inhibisi pada sistem elektrokimia cell. Terutama dalam media asam (HCl). Penelitian ini menggunakan logam alumunium 1100 (99%) sebagai elektroda kerja yang dicelupkan dalam larutan HCl dan NaOH dengan berbagai variasi konsentrasi (0,1M ; 0,5M ; 1M ; 2M dan 3M), elektroda referensi SCE dan elektroda Pt. Penelitian ini memperoleh efisiensi inhibisi 97,13% dalam media asam (HCl) dan 95,79% pada media basa (NaOH). Pengujian elektrokimia ini menggunakan metode siklik voltametri, hasil pengujian dalam media asam (HCl) tidak tampak adanya puncak osidasi dan puncak reduksi, sedangkan dalam media basa (NaOH) tampak jelas adanya puncak oksidasi pada logam alumunium tanpa diberikannya pelapisan inhibitor.
