Abstract

Ibu yang memiliki anak autis mempunyai beban lebih berat dibanding dengan ibu yang memiliki anak normal pada umumnya, tantangan dan kesulitan yang besar dalam usaha mereka merawat dan membesarkannya karena keterbatasan anak dalam komunikasi, berinteraksi dan aktivitas sehari-hari. Hal ini dapat memicu munculnya tekanan yang berdampak pada kualitas pengasuhan ibu. sehingga ibu dituntut untuk mampu bertahan, beradaptasi menghadapi rintangan hingga bangkit kembali dari situasi sulit ini. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengeksplorasi gambaran resiliensi ibu yang memiliki anak autis, dalam konteks hidup sehari-hari menghadapi berbagai hambatan yang mempengaruhi kehidupan mereka. Bagaimana mereka mampu beradaptasi, mengatasi tekanan lalu bangkit dan kembali menjalani kehidupan normal, mau belajar hingga membawa anaknya tumbuh dewasa dan berhasil. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif fenomenologi karena sesuai dengan tujuan penelitian untuk memahami dan menggali lebih dalam bagaimana gambaran ibu yang memiliki anak autis menghadapi tantangan dan kesulitan hingga menjadi resilien. Pengujian keabsahan data dengan triangulasi waktu. Tiga orang ibu yang memiliki anak autis berpartisipasi dalam penelitian ini. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan resiliensi ibu yang memiliki anak autis sangat dipengaruhi oleh besarnya faktor-faktor protektif seperti dukungan sosial yang kuat, pemahaman dan pengetahuan tentang autisme, serta kemampuan mengelola emosi dan stres memainkan peran kunci dalam membangun resiliensi. Selain itu, sikap optimis, dan keterampilan problem solving juga memberikan kontribusi yang signifikan dalam membentuk resiliensi. Penelitian ini memberikan informasi berharga berupa faktor-faktor kekuatan pribadi lain yang harus dimiliki ibu yang memiliki anak autis, yaitu kemauan belajar yang kuat dan sikap konsisten. Mothers with autistic children carry significant burdens, challenges, and difficulties in their efforts to care for and raise them due to their children's limitations in communication, interaction, and daily activities. This can trigger the emergence of stress that impacts the quality of maternal caregiving. As a result, mothers are required to endure, adapt to face obstacles, and eventually rise from these difficult situations. This study aims to explore the portrayal of resilience among mothers with autistic children, within the context of their daily lives as they face various hindrances that affect their lives. How they manage to adapt, cope with stress, rise again, and continue living a normal life, while continuing to learn and guide their children's growth into successful adulthood. The research employs a qualitative phenomenological approach, aligning with the research objective to understand and delve deeper into how the portrayal of mothers with autistic children confront challenges and difficulties to become resilient. Data validity testing is conducted through time triangulation. Three mothers with autistic children participated in this study. The findings reveal that the resilience of mothers with autistic children is heavily influenced by significant protective factors, such as strong social support, understanding and knowledge about autism, as well as the ability to manage emotions and stress, all playing key roles in building resilience. Additionally, an optimistic attitude and problem-solving skills also contribute significantly to resilience formation.
