Abstract
The advancement of technology communication and information makes it easier for anyone to interact and connect with other humans in all parts of the world. Currently, a smartphone or what is known as a smartphone has been developed. Initially, smartphones that functioned to facilitate interaction between individuals are now starting to have the opposite effect. Smartphone users now spend more time with their smartphones than chatting or just spending time chatting with friends or family. Uncontrolled use of smartphones like this can interfere with the social interaction process This study aims to find out how much influence smartphone use has on social interaction in the millennial generation in DKI Jakarta by using the uses & effects theory as the basis of social interaction. This type of research is quantitative with explanative research type. The method used is survey research using a questionnaire as a research instrument. The results of this study indicate that there is an influence on the use of smartphones on social interaction in the millennial generation in DKI Jakarta. Based on the results of the regression test, the influence of the Smartphone usage variable (X) on social interaction (Y) is equal to19%. Keywords: Smartphone, Social Interaction, Research Results Pesatnya perkembangan teknologi komunikasi maupun informasi saat ini membuat siapa saja lebih mudah untuk berinteraksi dan terhubung dengan manusia lain di seluruh belahan dunia. Saat ini telah berkembang telepon pintar atau yang dikenal dengan sebutan smartphone. Awalnya smartphone yang berfungsi memudahkan upaya interaksi antar individu kini mulai berdampak sebaliknya. Pengguna smartphone kini lebih sering menghabiskan waktunya dengan smartphonenya dari pada bercengkrama atau sekedar menghabiskan waktu mengobrol bersama dengan teman atau keluarga. Penggunaan smartphone yang tidak terkontrol seperti inilah yang dapat mengganggu proses interaksi sosial Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui seberapa besar pengaruh penggunaan smartphone terhadap interaksi sosial pada generasi milenial di DKI Jakarta dengan menggunakan landasan teori uses & effects dan interaksi sosial. Jenis penelitian ini adalah kuantitatif dengan tipe penelitian eksplanatif. Metode yang digunakan adalah penelitian survey dengan menggunakan kuesioner sebagai instrument penelitian. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa adanya pengaruh pada penggunaan smartphone terhadap interaksi sosial pada generasi milenial di DKI Jakarta. Berdasarkan hasil uji regresi bahwa besarnya pengaruh variabel penggunanan Smartphone (X) terhadap interaksi sosial (Y) adalah sebesar 19%. Kata kunci: Smartphone, Interaksi sosial, Hasil Penelitian
