Abstract

The limited job opportunities available make it difficult for fresh graduate students to find jobs that match their fields of expertise. This means that any type of work will be carried out so that fresh graduate students do not become unemployed even though the work is not in accordance with the education achieved, or better known as the education mismatch. This causes most people who enter the world of work not to pay attention to whether the type of education they undergo will support their career, or cause difficulties and a greater workload and affect their performance as employees. This study aims to determine whether Psychological Empowerment as a mediator on the relationship between Core Self-Evaluation and Work Engagement in Horizontal Education Mismatch workers. The research design in this study was carried out by mediation using accidental sampling technique. The subjects of this study were workers who experienced a horizontal education mismatch. Mediation regression analysis in this study awaits PROCESS V3.5 Procedure for SPSS by Andrew F. Hayes. The results showed that psychological empowerment was found to be a mediator of the relationship between core self-evaluation and work engagement. This research is expected to be a reference for companies and workers regarding the importance of understanding and implementing work engagement, core self-evaluation and psychological empowerment so as to improve the quality of good work. Keyword: Psychological Empowerment, Core Self-Evaluation, Work Engagement, Horizontal Education Mismatch, Employees Terbatasnya lapangan pekerjaan yang tersedia membuat mahasiswa fresh graduate kesulitan untuk mendapatkan pekerjaan yang sesuai dengan bidang yang dikuasai. Hal ini membuat pekerjaan jenis apapun akan dilakukan agar mahasiswa fresh graduate tidak menjadi pengangguran walaupun pekerjaan tersebut tidak sesuai dengan pendidikan yang diraih, atau lebih dikenal dengan education mismatch. Hal ini menyebabkan sebagian besar orang yang memasuki dunia kerja tidak memperhatikan apakah jenis pendidikan yang dijalaninya akan menunjang kariernya, ataukah menimbulkan kesulitan dan beban kerja yang lebih besar dan mempengaruhi kinerja sebagai karyawan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui apakah Psychological Empowerment sebagai mediator pada hubungan antara Core Self-Evaluation dan Work Engagement pada pekerja Horizontal Education Mismatch. Desain peneliti dalam penelitian ini dilakukan dengan mediasi menggunakan teknik accidental sampling. Subjek penelitian ini adalah para pekerja yang mengalami horizontal education mismatch. Analisa regresi mediasi dalam penelitian ini menungguankan PROCESS V3.5 Procedure for SPSS oleh Andrew F. Hayes. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa psychological empowerment ditemukan sebagai mediator hubungan antara core self-evaluation dan work engagement. Penelitian ini diharapkan dapat menjadi acuan bagi perusahaan dan pekerja mengenai pentingnya memahami dan menerapkan work engagement, core self-evaluation dan psychological empowerment sehingga dapat meningkatkan kualitas kerja yang baik.
