Abstract

Interpersonal communication in organizations is very important between leaders and employees to produce achievement of work results and goals in the Public Relations of the Ministry of Defense. Having a leader with a military background means that the form of communication that is created means that everything must follow the orders of superiors and cannot be challenged. This makes employees work only according to orders without them being able to explore the ideas they have. This research aims to find out and analyze how much influence leadership interpersonal communication has on employee communication satisfaction in the Public Relations of the Ministry of Defense. The relevant theories used to support this research are the concept of organizational communication, interpersonal communication proposed by Joseph A. DeVito, communication satisfaction proposed by Peace and Faules, and military leadership. This research uses a quantitative approach based on the positivism paradigm. Data collection by giving questionnaires to respondents. The population used was 68 employees at the Public Relations of the Ministry of Defense, with respondents determined using a total sampling technique, namely members of the population were used as samples. Data analysis techniques were carried out using classical assumption tests, simple linear regression tests, and hypothesis tests (t tests). The results of this research show that the regression coefficient value of 0.806 shows that the relationship between interpersonal communication and communication satisfaction is positive (unidirectional). The R2 value is 0.397 which indicates that around 39.7% of the changes that occur in communication satisfaction can be explained by interpersonal communication while the remaining 60.3% is explained by variables outside the model. It can be concluded that leadership interpersonal communication has a significant effect on employee communication satisfaction at the Public Relations of the Ministry of Defense. Keywords: influence, interpersonal communication, satisfaction, military leadership Komunikasi interpersonal dalam organisasi sangat penting dilakukan antara pimpinan dan pegawai untuk menghasilkan suatu pencapaian hasil kerja dan tujuan di Biro Humas Setjen Kemhan. Memiliki pimpinan yang berlatar belakang militer membuat bentuk komunikasi yang diciptakan adalah segala sesuatu harus mengikuti perintah atasan dan tidak boleh dibantah. Hal ini membuat pegawai bekerja hanya sesuai dengan perintah tanpa mereka dapat mengeksplorasi ide-ide yang dimiliki. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui dan menganalisis seberapa besar pengaruh komunikasi interpersonal pimpinan terhadap kepuasan komunikasi pegawai di Biro Humas Setjen Kemhan. Teori-teori relevan yang digunakan untuk mendukung penelitian ini adalah konsep komunikasi organisasi, komunikasi interpersonal yang dikemukakan oleh Joseph A. DeVito, kepuasan komunikasi yang dikemukakan oleh Peace dan Faules, serta pimpinan militer. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif berlandaskan paradigma positivisme. Pengumpulan data dengan memberikan kuesioner pada responden. Populasi yang digunakan sebanyak 68 pegawai di Biro Humas Setjen Kemhan dengan penentuan responden menggunakan teknik sampling total yaitu anggota populasi digunakan sebagai sampel. Teknik analisis data yang dilakukan dengan uji statistik deskriptif, uji asumsi klasik, uji regresi linier sederhana, dan uji hipotesis (uji t). Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa nilai koefisien regresi sebesar 0,806 menunjukkan hubungan komunikasi interpersonal terhadap kepuasan komunikasi adalah positif (searah). Nilai R2 adalah sebesar 0,397 yang menunjukkan bahwa sekitar 39,7% perubahan yang terjadi pada kepuasan komunikasi dapat dijelaskan oleh komunikasi interpersonal sedangkan sisanya 60,3% dijelaskan oleh variabel di luar model. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa komunikasi interpersonal pimpinan berpengaruh signifikan terhadap kepuasan komunikasi pegawai di Biro Hubungan Masyarakat Sekretariat Jenderal Kementerian Pertahanan.
