Abstract

This study aims to determine the relationship of body image with the self confidence of early adult women of social media users in Tangerang City. In this study using a non-probability sampling technique, using accidental sampling with the total respondents obtained in this study were 161 people. The measuring instrument used in this study is, for body image using a body image measuring that adapted by Thompson (2000) consisting of 30 item while for confidence using measuring instruments adapted from Lauster (1992) as many as 25 item. This study uses IBM SPSS Statistics 23 software. This study uses the Spearman-rho correlation test to see the relationship between the two variables. The research results obtained the results of the correlation coefficient value of 0.350 with a value of SIG 0,000 <0.01 so that the value indicates that the two variables have a low positive relationship. The results of the data analysis in this study show that the early adult women of social media users in Tangerang have a body image with a neutral category, while the level of self confidence of early adult women is in the medium category. Keywords: Body Image, Self Confidence, Early Adult Women, Social Media Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan body image dengan kepercayaan diri wanita dewasa awal pengguna media sosial di Kota Tangerang. Dalam penelitian ini menggunakan teknik non-probability sampling yaitu accidental sampling dengan total responden yang didapat dalam penelitian ini adalah 161 orang. Alat ukur yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yaitu, untuk body image menggunakan alat ukur body image yang diadaptasi dari Thompson (2000) yang terdiri dari 30 item sedangkan untuk kepercayaan diri menggunakan alat ukur yang diadaptasi dari Lauster (1992) sebanyak 25 item. Penelitian ini menggunakan software IBM SPSS Statistics 23. Penelitian ini menggunakan uji korelasi Spearman-rho untuk melihat hubungan antara kedua variabel. Hasil penelitian didapatkan hasil nilai koefisien korelasi sebesar 0.350 dengan nilai sig 0.000 < 0.01 sehingga nilai tersebut menunjukkan bahwa kedua variabel memiliki hubungan positif yang rendah. Hasil analisa data dalam penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa wanita dewasa awal pengguna media sosial di Tangerang memiliki body image dengan kategori netral, sedangkan tingkat kepercayaan diri wanita dewasa awal pengguna media sosial berada dalam kategori sedang.
