Abstract

Pada saat ini para penghobi merpati semakin bertambah dikarenakan mudahnya memelihara serta proses pembudidayaannya dan juga merpati merupakan hewan yang mudah beradaptasi terhadap lingkungannya, apabila seorang penghobbi memiliki merpati haruslah memiliki dongdang untuk proses perawatan. Dongdang ini merupakan istilah dari bahasa sunda yaitu sebuah wadah tetapi pada dunia merpati sebutan tersebut dapat diartikan sebagai sangkar merpati yang merupakan salah satu tempat atau media untuk merawat dan membawa merpati, bukan hanya itu dongdang juga memiliki berbagai macam fungsi diantaranya yaitu sebagai tempat menjemur merpati, menjodohkan merpati hingga membawa merpati pada perlombaan, tetapi pada proses ini para peghobi memindahkan merpatinya secara langsung menggunakan tangannya dengan cara digenggam tanpa memikirkan kondisi merpati yang sedang giring keras, giring keras dapat diartikan yaitu sepasang merpati yang masuk didalam masa birahi sehingga merpati menjadi lebih agresif kepada pasangannya, apabila merpati yang masuk ditahap giring keras dan dipegang secara langsung maka bulu merpati akan menjadi rusak akibat terlalu agresif, dampak nya merpati akan mudah stres dan tidak maksimal ketika diperlombaan Kata Kunci : Dongdang, Sangkar, Merpati, Perlombaan Merpati At this time, the number of pigeon hobbyists is increasing due to the ease of maintenance and the cultivation process and also pigeons are animals that easily adapt to their environment, if a hobbyist has pigeons, they must have dongdang for the treatment process. Dongdang is a term from the Sundanese language which is a container but in the world of pigeons this designation can be interpreted as a pigeon cage which is a place or medium for caring for and carrying pigeons, not only that dongdang also has various functions including as a place to dry pigeons, matching pigeons to bringing pigeons to the competition, but in this process hobbyists move their pigeons directly using their hands by holding them without thinking about the condition of the pigeons that are being driven hard, hard dribbles can be interpreted as a pair of pigeons entering a period of lust so that the pigeons become more aggressive towards partner, if the dove enters the sleigh stage and is held directly, the dove's feathers will be damaged due to being too aggressive, the impact is that the dove will get stressed easily and not optimal when competing Keywords: Dongdang, Cage, Pigeons, Pigeon Race
