Abstract

The Adiwiyata school is a school that has implemented the curriculum system integrating environmental maintenance and management programs. It aims at realizing school community who has responsibility to environmental protection and management through good school governance so that it will support sustainable development. The guidelines for the implementation of Adiwiyata program has been regulated in Regulation of Minister of Environment and Forestry Number 5 of 2013. A school that consistely implements the program is Islamic Elementary School (SDI) Amalina, South Tangerang City. The physical object of the school looks clean and green. The research used the Symbolic Interactionism as thought of by Herbert Blumer as the theoretical basis. It explained that teachers had function as the meaning constructors who interacted symbols in order to grow shared meaning that could support the program to parents and their pupils. It definitely showed a communication process that involved the concepts of way of thinking, action, objects (physical, abstract and social ones), social interaction as well as joint action. This research used the social constructivist paradigm with qualitative descriptive approach. It used the data collecting, i.e. in-depth interviews and data triangulation from supporting informants, direct observation and literacy documentation. Based on the research results, it finds that the construction of meaning comes from a variety of symbols when the teachers interact with parents and their pupils so that they have high commitment to implement the program consistently. To support the program, it requires the teachers' creativity as the constructors to create diverse variation of the symbols that pupils and their parents can understand. The research finds that the biggest obstacle of the program relates to psychological barrier in the level of individuals, i.e. th commitment and consistency of all communicators who are involved in the program (teachers, pupils and parents) so that they will maintain and realize the shared meaning of the program. Sekolah Adiwiyata adalah sekolah yang telah menerapkan sistem kurikulum yang terintegrasi dengan program-program pemeliharaan dan pengelolaan Lingkungan hidup. Dengan maksud untuk mewujudkan warga sekolah yang bertanggung jawab dalam upaya perlindungan dan pengelolaan lingkungan hidup melalui tata kelola sekolah yang baik untuk mendukung pembangunan berkelanjutan. Pedoman pelaksanaan program Adiwiyata diatur dalam Peraturan Menteri LH Nomor 5 tahun 2013. Salah satu sekolah yang secara konsisten melaksanakan program ini adalah Sekolah Dasar Islam Amalina Tangerang Selatan, yang terlihat dari objek fisiknya tampak bersih dan hijau. Sebagai landasan teori penelitian ini menggunakan teori interakasi simbolik berdasarkan mazhab Herbert Blumer, untuk menjelaskan bagaimana guru sebagai konstruktor makna menginteraksikan simbol-simbol agar menumbuhkan makna bersama yang dapat mendukung program ini kepada orang tua dan anak. Pada intinya proses ini adalah proses komunikasi yang melibatkan konsep cara berpikir, konsep perbuatan, konsep objek (fisik, abstrak, dan sosial), konsep interaksi sosial, dan konsep aksi bersama. Penelitian ini menggunakan paradigma konstruktivis, metode deskriptif kualitatif dengan pendekatan interaksi simbolik mazhab Herbert Blumer. Pengumpulan data dengan wawancara mendalam dan triangulasi sumber data dari informan pendukung, observasi langsung, dan literasi dokumentasi. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian ini didapatkan bahwa konstruksi makna diperoleh dengan beragam simbol yang diinteraksikan oleh guru kepada orang tua dan anak secara konsisten dengan komitmen tinggi untuk melaksanakannya. Untuk mendukung semua itu diperlukan pula kreativitas guru sebagai konstruktor untuk mengkreasikan simbol-simbol yang dapat dipahami oleh orang tua dan anak dengan variasi simbol yang beragam. Hambatan terbesar yang ditemukan agar makna bersama program ini terus dapat dijaga dan direalisasikan adalah hambatan psikologi individu yaitu Komitmen dan konsistensi semua pelaku komunikasi, dalam hal ini guru, orang tua, dan anak.
