Abstract
This study aims to determine the effect of empathy on prosocial behavior in students who use social media Tiktok. The main hypothesis tested in this study is that there is a significant influence between empathy on prosocial behavior in students using TikTok.. The subjects of this study were 207 Mercu Buana University students with an age range of 18-22 years. Sampling was done using accidental sampling technique. This research used a quantitative approach with correlational analysis methods. The instruments used in this study were the Prosocial Tendencies Measure (PTM) scale developed by Carlo and Randall and the Interpersonal Reactivity Index (IRI) scale developed by Davis. The results of the data analysis show that there is a positive and significant influence between empathy and prosocial behavior in students using TikTok. These findings indicate that the ability to feel and understand the feelings of others influences the tendency to take prosocial actions, such as helping, sharing or supporting others. Keywords: Prosocial Behavior, Empathy, Students, Social Media TikTok Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh empati terhadap perilaku prososial pada mahasiswa pengguna media sosial tiktok. Hipotesis utama yang diuji dalam penelitian ini adalah terdapat pengaruh yang signifikan antara empati terhadap perilaku prososial pada mahasiswa pengguna TikTok. Subjek penelitian terdiri dari 207 mahasiswa Universitas Mercu Buana dengan rentang usia 18-22 tahun. Pengambilan sampel dilakukan dengan teknik accidental sampling. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan metode analisis regresi linier sederhana. Instrumen yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah skala Prosocial Tendencies Measure (PTM) yang dikembangkan oleh Carlo dan Randall serta skala Interpersonal Reactivity Index (IRI) yang dikembangkan oleh Davis. Hasil analisis data menunjukkan adanya pengaruh positif dan signifikan antara empati dengan perilaku prososial pada mahasiswa pengguna TikTok. Temuan ini mengindikasikan bahwa kemampuan untuk merasakan dan memahami perasaan orang lain berpengaruh dengan kecenderungan untuk melakukan tindakan prososial, seperti membantu, berbagi, atau mendukung orang lain.
