Abstract

A Film is built with signs, those signs include various sign systems that work well together to achieve the desired effect. The Film is one of the mass communication media used to represent or create reality. The most important thing in the film is picture and sound; spoken word (plus other voices that simultaneously accompany the pictures) and film music. A Documentary film is one of the media that helps information in the form of art and contains real facts obtained through research and observation. The film Tenggelam Dalam Diam is one of the documentaries that raise the issue of the impact of the climate crisis which threatens coastal cities such as what happened in Java Island. This research uses a constructivist paradigm with a qualitative approach and Ferdinand De Saussure's semiotic analysis method. The unit of analysis for this study is in the form of images that contain interpretations of the documentary film Tenggelam Dalam Diam. The results of this study indicate that in the 5 scenes examined by the researcher, there are representations of environmental damage through scenes, dialogues, and settings. As for the environmental damage that has occurred in coastal cities of Java Island, including having access to clean water, lack of air catchment areas, decreasing land surface, the public burial place sank. The environmental damage was caused by the climate crisis and then the climate crisis turned into a humanitarian crisis which has a significant impact on everyday life including the people's economy. Keywords: Representation, Semiotics, Film, Environmental Damage Film dibangun dengan tanda, tanda-tanda itu termasuk berbagai sistem tanda yang bekerja sama dengan baik untuk mencapai efek yang diharapkan. Film adalah salah satu media komunikasi massa yang digunakan untuk mencerminkan atau membuat realitas. Hal paling penting dalam film adalah gambar dan suara; kata yang diucapkan (ditambah dengan suara-suara lain yang serentak mengiringi gambar-gambar) dan musik film. Film dokumenter merupakan salah satu media penyampaian informasi dalam bentuk seni dan berisi fakta-fakta real yang didapat melalui riset dan observasi. Film Tengelam Dalam Diam ini merupakan salah satu dokumenter yang mengangkat isu tentang dampak krisis iklim yang mengancam kota-kota pesisir seperti yang terjadi di Pulau Jawa. Penelitian ini menggunakan paradigma konstruktivis dengan pendekatan kualitatif dan metode analisis semiotika milik Ferdinand De Saussure. Unit analisis penelitian ini berupa gambar yang berisi interpretasi dalam gambar-gambar film dokumenter Tenggelam Dalam Diam. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa dalam 5 scene yang diteliti oleh peneliti terdapat representasi kerusakan lingkungan melalui adegan, dialog dan setting. Adapun kerusakan lingkungan yang terjadi di kota-kota pesisir Pulau Jawa diantaranya kesulitan mendapatkan air bersih, minimnya daerah resapan air, permukaan tanah yang menurun, meninggikan tempat tinggal, tempat pemakamam umum tenggelam. Kerusakan lingkungan tersebut disebabkan oleh krisis iklim kemudian krisis iklim tersebut berubah menjadi krisis kemanusiaan yang mana berdampak signifikan terhadap kehidupan sehari-hari termasuk ekonomi masyarakat.
