Abstract

Gays are still considered taboo and frightening for a majority heterosexual Indonesian society. During their lives, homosexuals have a meaning in their lives, what has become their choice now does not just happen, but there are life experiences that have been lived and life lessons that have their own meaning. This study aims to know and understand the meaning of life in men with gay behavior in Tangerang. This research method is qualitative with case study approach. Data collection techniques using snowball sampling. The number of subjects willing to be participants in the study was three people with the criteria, two of whom were bisexual and one was gay. The results showed that the three subjects found the meaning of life from the aspects specified, all three had uniqueness, activities that guided the meaning of life, believing in the existence of God and carrying out worship. Two out of three subject have experienced tragic events that have passed through during life. With gay behavior all three can interpret life and have a strong belief in survival among the majority of heterosexuals, even the three subjects also have jobs and education equivalent to heterosexuals. Keywords : Meaning of Life, Gay, Bisexual Kaum gay masih dianggap tabu dan menakutkan bagi masyarakat Indonesia yang mayoritas heteroseksual. Selama menjalani kehidupan, kaum homoseksual mempunyai makna didalam hidupnya, apa yang telah menjadi pilihannya sekarang tidak terjadi begitu saja, namun adanya pengalaman hidup yang telah dijalaninya serta pelajaran-pelajaran hidup yang memiliki arti tersendiri. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui dan memahami kebermaknaan hidup pada pria dengan perilaku gay di Tangerang. Metode penelitian ini adalah kualitatif dengan pendekatan studi kasus. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan snowball sampling. Jumlah subjek yang bersedia menjadi partisipan penelitian terdapat tiga orang sesuaai dengan kriteria, dua diantaranya biseksual dan satu orang gay. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa ketiga subjek menemukan makna hidup dilihat dari aspek-aspek yang ditentukan, ketiganya mempunyai keunikan, kegiatan yang berpedoman pada makna hidup, mempercayai keberadaan Tuhan dan menjalankan ibadah. Dua dari tiga repsonden pernah mengalami peristiwa tragis yang dilalui selama hidup. Dengan prilaku gay ketiganya dapat memaknai hidup serta mempunyai keyakinan yang kuat untuk bertahan hidup diantara mayoritas kaum heteroseksual, bahkan ketiga subjek juga memiliki pekerjaan dan Pendidikan yang setara dengan kaum heteroseksual.
